A tiny, four day old Piping Plover narrowly escapes the crashing surf. Quite a distance away I laid flat on the beach with my 600mm lens and 2x extender to prevent interference. As I watched the three tiny, cottonball sized baby shorebirds would follow the surf as it pulled out, seeking small marine invertebrates washed up in its wake. Occasionally they would be caught off guard and the receding wave would reveal a tiny, water-soaked pile of downy feathers and limbs. These precocial plovers are hardy and would shake it off and continue about their hunt. #sharetheshore
This little tiny pier is so uneven and narrow, only about 2 steps wide that I nearly fall into Lake Wakatipu ( which could be enjoyable in summer but not in this cool early spring ).
My working trip is nearly reaching the end. One more Tekapo night and I'll be home holidaying for 3 days, take care my friends, see your photostreams later!
The completely renewed locomotive 77 002 by Express Service is already on duty on the Rhodope narrow gauge line! We have waited to see the locomotive in operation for quite a long time. It was ready and transferred in Septemvri depot in March 2022, but due to some administrative hiccups, its commissioning was delayed quite a bit. After all, about a month ago, the locomotive was put into operation, with a new number - 77 102, and since then it has been tirelessly and without any problems serving trains on the narrow gauge. The modernization of the locomotive which has been manufactured in Romania in the 80s was carried out by the Express Service workshop in Ruse, Bulgaria. In practice, only the frame and bogies are used from the old locomotive. Cabs and the body shells were removed and re-build using brand new materials. The loco is equipped with electronic controls and also with a brand new Caterpilar diesel engine with EU stage 5 standard.
On the photo 77 102 is seen on train 1661, between the stations of Yakoruda and Belitsa, near Dagonovo stop /15 October 2022/
Video of the renovated locomotive is available here:
The looming ancient buildings and narrow streets are surprisingly welcoming - beckoning you to always take a peek around the next corner.

Heading down the narrow steep sided Glen with the bike this is the path I'm having to follow. It's barely wide enough for one foot, never mind two feet and a bike.
This is one from my archives and it is one of my favorites. This is at Robert H Treman State Park.
I hope everyone enjoys this image! :)
In the lowest parts of Manhattan there are dozens of streets where whoever was in charge decided to let insanely narrow streets stay rather than tear up massive parts of buildings and infrastructure to change it.

Mientras tanto las usuales composiciones de coches y potasa siguen entrando y saliendo del Port de Barcelona, dando lugar a imágenes tan pintorescas como esta.
