Just working on the new bathroom at home. Shower cabin is getting there.. this is the floor (small tiles). Guess, it is going to be a marine inspired bathroom... I used an Nanlite PavoTube light (blue of course) to lighten the floor.

The British pound stirling (£) is the oldest existing currency, and is the official currency of the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.) The one pound coin was introduced in 1489, during the reign of Henry VII.

Threads are helical ridges on a cylinder, measured in threads per inch (TPI). These are 1.5 x 6 inch 304 stainless steel flange bolts, showing external threads on the bolt, and internal threads on the nut. I think Charlie's tools may be too small for this job.

Here in the States, 'threads' is also a slang word for clothing, or an outfit, as in "Hey, Charlie! Nice threads!"

Mahjong is a Chinese game, created in the 19th century. It is played by 4 people, using 144 tiles. The winner needs a hand of 14 tiles, collecting pairs, sets, or sequences. (I have no idea how to play, at least for now, but I know many people who love it).

In my opinion, every day is National Popcorn Day, but today is the "official" day. You could also celebrate the classic instrumental song "Popcorn" by Hot Butter. Or do both.

Enjoy!!

I didn't realize there was a crack in the shell until I shined a light through it. Kind of gives it a 'Death Star' look.

It could go as a logo... a dark cellar and a Nanlite PavoTube light with changing colors...

Mid-May always brings out the pink and purple lilac flowers. Mine seem to be a week or so behind, but they now smell amazing.

A martini glass in front, two martini glasses and a cut-glass wine glass in back. Colored LED bulbs from Ikea in the sides with cards to block direct light (mostly) from the front glass. A Nanlite Pavotube over the top for the rim light. Try as I might, I could never get the blown highlights to go away, but mostly it turned out. All lights were set to green.

This holiday cocktail may only be known by my fellow Wisconsinites, but it has been extremely popular for generations. The ice-cold drink that warms you up during the holidays and the long winters. And to be official, it has to be made in a plastic ice cream bucket. Classic Wisconsin!

It has been said that the state of Wisconsin consumes more brandy than the other 49 states combined. Heck, we were even the first state in the union to have an official state cocktail; the Old Fashioned.

Prost! Zum Wohl!

It is autumn in Wisconsin, and the woolly bear caterpillars can be seen everywhere, preparing for their long winter sleep, before becoming an Isabella tiger moth in the spring. Folklore says that the width of their brown/rust colored segments predicts the upcoming winter. I would say this little one, as others I have seen this week, predicts a milder winter, because of the wider middle section. Nature's prognosticators seem to do a pretty good job, so look to squirrels, caterpillars, spiders, geese, and trees for your daily weather updates.

Foam earplugs are a light and comfortable form of hearing protection. They typically reduce noise levels by about 32 decibels (dB), and are ideal for loud environments like rock concerts, construction sites, car races, and also during use of home equipment such as snowblowers, leaf blowers, lawnmowers, and power tools. With this amount of noise reduction, you may have to speak up if someone is wearing them. I SAY, YOU MAY HAVE TO SPEAK UP IF SOMEONE IS WEARING THEM!!!!

A quick-response (QR) code is a two-dimensional barcode, often providing a link to websites, information, and contact details. It was created in 1994 by Masahiro Hara, and his inspiration was the black and white stones used in the board game Go, which I used for my letter 'G' photo in last year's Alphabet Fun Month.

This particular QR code is a link to my Flickr page. Smart phones are essentially QR code scanners, so if your camera is aimed at one, the link will pop up on the display. But since this is only a partial code, it will not provide the link. You need the entire square code.

So far, the 2026 FIFA World Cup has produced more red cards(12) than the last two World Cups combined, and we aren't to the Round of 16 yet. The highest number of red cards in a World Cup is 28 in 2006.

A player receives a red card from the referee after a severe rule violation. That player must immediately leave the pitch, and cannot be replaced. This means the penalized team must play with one less player for the remainder of the game.

2.8 billion miles from Earth, on the blue ice giant Neptune, we meet a resident of the Great Dark Spot. His name is R-rrax-7 yKryyxae, which in English translates to "Gary."

Luckily, he is made entirely of sugar, so the -361 F temperatures don't affect his composition, although the 1300MPH winds make for some interesting travel. But he has four legs, so that helps.

Enjoy your 165-year trip around the Sun, R-rrax-7!

This jackknife was given to me as a kid in the mid to late 1970s, and I have had it all this time, always keeping it sharp. The days of carrying a small knife in your pocket are almost gone, with security scanners, etc., but they were always handy back in the day.

On September 28th, 2021 I will arrived in Jackson Hole, Wyoming just in time for an early dinner before heading out for my sunset site and follow-up Milky Way photo site.

I met up with a Facebook friend of mine and we were out just a little past midnight on a perfectly clear sky.

This time around I concentrated on photographing the Milky Way over a few lakes but of course I had to return to a few of my ol' faithful sites like the southern Moulton Barn which you see here.

While at the barn another photographer came by and had a Nanlite LitoLite 5C RGBWW color temperature controllable light panel. And it seem to nicely light the barn during his brief stay at the site.

In 2022, I plan to return in late September to conduct a three day photography workshop there which will include at least two night of Milky Way photography and of course I will conduct a Photoshop Milky Way post-processing class.

If you are interested in attending, please DM me or contact me on facebook.

What's the most difficult thing about photographing complementary colors? -> Photographing complementary colors.

It's still very challenging for me. I tell you, mastering this.. is high art.

I'm currently spending time in educating myself on light setting in film. The why, the wherefore, and especially the how. Gear is important, but the best equipment does not guarantee good results.

It takes a lot more than that. Sometimes it's better not having everything you need for a photograph. Because:

"Restrictions sometimes can conjure really great ideas, that provide solutions. Necessity is the mother of invention." (David Lynch)
