With no tilt on my longest telephoto I ran out of DOF with this one, but I liked this pair of trees for their similarity in form, almost as if synchronised in mid-dance...
Taken during a 2 week adventure holiday to Namibia with Exodus Travels, October/November 2006. Image taken with a borrowed Minolta Dynax 5D camera, the first DSLR that I ever used. Originally shot in jpeg format, then recently reprocessed using DxO PhotoLab 4 to try and get the best out of them, as I hadn't really appreciated the possibilities of what I'd taken at the time.
Africa is full of magical places and this is one of them. The beautiful Erongo Wilderness Lodge, in the Erongo mountains, is surrounded by spectacular scenery and abundant wildlife particularly birds.
Out of all my memories of Africa I can recall a few places such as this, all in Kenya, especially the Treetops in Aberdares Mountains, but this one is a really special place.

Many photos depict the enormously impressing granite rock formations of Namibia. Especially in the Erongo Mountains, the ancient remains of a volcano, between Omaruru and Usakos one can find a large variety of these surreal appearing formations. Most famous is the Bull’s Party on farm Ameib. Here the granite rocks formed by so-called spheroidal weathering are particularly impressive: a dream for photographers.
The granite massif, which is part of the Erongo Mountains, was created by the collapse of a gigantic volcano more than 100 million years ago and the subsequent erosion, which exposed the volcanic rock, granite. Over millions of years the outer layer was carried off by wind erosion, until the granite intrusion was exposed.
