Para llegar al pueblo de Lagrasse es pasar por una sucesión de valles y viñedos preciosos. Se disfruta muchísimo de la experiencia de descubrir esta pequeña población cruzada por el río Orbieu y cuyos orígenes se remontan a la construcción de la abadía benedictina de Sainte Marie en el siglo VII y a una carta del mítico Carlomagno. Es un pueblo agradable y precioso… y pasar unas horas por sus calles fue una gran decisión.
To reach the village of Lagrasse is passing by a succession of valleys and precious vineyards. You can enjoy a lot of the experience of discovering this small town crossed by the river Orbieu and whose origins date back to the construction of the Benedictine Abbey of Sainte Marie in the seventh century and a letter of the mythical Charlemagne. It is a pleasant and beautiful village… and spend a few hours by its streets was a great decision.
Are there any mythical beasts which aren't simple pastiches of nature? Centaurs, minotaurs, unicorns, griffons, chimeras, sphinxes, manticores, and the like don't speak well for the human imagination. None is as novel as a kangaroo or starfish.

All the moai statues were carved in volcanic tuff from the quarries of the Rano Raraku volcano, located one kilometer northwest. Despite their relative closeness, it is still not explained how they were able to transport to Tongariki these huge giants that have an average weight of 40 tons.
The moai measure between 5.6 and 8.7 meters, being the highest and heaviest (86 tons) the fifth on the right. If at the height of the moai, we add the 4 meters of the back wall and the almost 2 meters of the pukao or headdresses that adorned the head, the complete monument reaches a maximum height of 14 meters.
Formerly all the moai of the ahu carried a pukao on their head, but during the restoration only one could be placed on the second moai on the right. The others, due to the passage of time and the tsunami, were too eroded. On the right side of the platform I saw seven of these huge cylinders carved in red scoria extracted from the Puna Pau volcano.

One of the grandest – and most photographed – landmarks in the United States, Monument Valley is a sprawling, sandy preserve that spans the border between Arizona and Utah, bathing the region in rich red hues. Dominated by crimson mesas and surreal sandstone towers – some as tall as 1,000 feet – the area is also known for dramatic, mesmerizing lighting, with the sun illuminating the towers and casting long shadows on the valley floor.
Located inside the Navajo Nation – one of the largest Native American tribes in the United States – Monument Valley is around four hours northeast of Flagstaff, near the Four Corners area.
Monument Valley provides perhaps the most enduring and definitive images of the American West. The isolated red mesas and buttes surrounded by empty, sandy desert have been filmed and photographed countless times over the years for movies, adverts and holiday brochures. Because of this, the area may seem quite familiar, even on a first visit, but it is soon evident that the natural colors really are as bright and deep as those in all the pictures. The valley is not a valley in the conventional sense, but rather a wide flat, sometimes desolate landscape, interrupted by the crumbling formations rising hundreds of feet into the air, the last remnants of the sandstone layers that once covered the entire region.

A second species of alien spider has recently been discovered - the Cthulhu-spider. It has a head like the mythical Cthulhu and the body of a spider - they are highly venomous. So far, none have been seen to have wings, so we uh, got that going for us.
I keep meaning to return to my main storyline, but then I keep getting sidetracked playing with my avatars and finding new little nooks and crannies of cool sims.... Not sure if anyone cares one way or the other anyway, as long as the pics are cool, right? Anyway, this one was taken in Lost Unicorn.
A pair of legendary ex-Canadian Pacific SD40-2Fs -- still in successor Central Maine & Quebec paint, but now repatriated by CP and back on home rails -- are seen easing ballast train 9WHA-12 down the south leg of the Aberdeen wye on a hazy spring evening in Hamilton, Ontario.
