Spiekerhof is one of the streets around the cathedral. This shot was taken a few meters away from the street along the tiny river Aa that runs through Münster's center.

Blick zur Hauptorgel, darüber das Martinsfenster, im Spitzbogen die recht umstrittene Skulptur des kriegerischen Erzengel Michael!
View to the main organ, above it the St. Martin's window, in the pointed arch the quite controversial sculpture of the warlike Archangel Michael!

sunshine and a pleasant minus 6 degrees.
The St. Quirinus Minster is the most important building in Neuss and it is one of the Romanesque treasures in the Rhineland. It was built between 1209 and 1230 and on October 6, 2009 Pope Benedict XVI raised it to the status of a minor basilica at the request of Archbishop Joachim Meisner of Cologne.
I've had this look for several years in Second Life, and the minute I saw that Skoll store had put out a tattoo, stitches and neck bolts, called Munster, I had to grab it up to improve this look.

Münster is a city of 280,000 in North Rhine-Westphalia, not far from Germany's border with the Netherlands. The city traces its history back to 793 A.D., when a monastery was founded in the area during the time of Emperor Charlemagne. Münster was granted the status of a civitas (city) in 805, and by 1494 it was associated with the Hanseatic League. In the 16th Century, it was ruled by Anabaptists but became a Catholic city again during the Counter-Reformation.
The Münster Cathedral has three organs but the main one can be found in the east transept or the Johannischoir and is shown in its splendor in this photo.
The pipework’s are the craftmanship of Hans Klais and were originally installed in the Stephanschoir niche in 1956 but were later moved in 1987 to a position that showed it off in better light under the southern window in the Johannischoir.
In 2002 in order to produce a more uniform sound throughout the cathedral there was an auxiliary set of works installed in the upper chapel of the north tower and is wholly operated by the main organ.
This organ is probably to my eye the most beautiful thing in the cathedral and would have loved to hear it play but unfortunately I was there at the wrong time of day.
I took this with my D750 and Tamron SP 24-70mm 2.8 G2 Lens at 24mm 1/40s, f/5.6 ISO 800 processed in LR, Topaz Denoise, PS (Lumenzia and DXO Nik Color Efex)
Disclaimer: Not trying to be realistic in my editing there is enough realism in the world, my style is a mix of painterly and romanticism as well as a work in progress.
