The bronze statue 'Maman' by the French artist Louise Bourgeois outside Mori Tower at Roppongi, Tokyo. It's a gigantic spider. It is not meant to scare anyone, instead it is actually a tribute to Bourgeois' own mother, who died when Bourgeois was 21. Her mother worked with weaving and tapestries, but was also helpful and protective - just as a spider. The statue is one of six casts made after the 1999 original at Tate Modern, London (the other five can be found in Ottawa, Canada, Bilbao, Spain, Leeum, South Korea, Bentonville, USA, and Doha, Qatar.
The sculpture is here because of the Mori Art Museum at the top of the building (well worth a visit) - and it's gigantic, being more than 9 metres tall).

This canopic jar is the baboon (Hapy), Like the Dybbuk box, maybe should not have been opened. Or, maybe, he was a smoker....
From the ancient Egyptian funerary practice comes the canopic jars. Each organ was identified with one of four funerary deities collectively known as the Sons of Horus: the liver with Imsety (man's head), the lungs with Hapy (baboon's head), the stomach with Duamutef (jackal's head), and the intestines with Qebehsenuef (falcon's head). It was their duty to protect the deceased and restore to him his body parts in the hereafter.

The mummies of the priestesses testify that they were decorated with a religious tattoo, covering the stomach around the area of the uterus. After the Middle Kingdom of Egypt, the title was often irregularly awarded the women of the royal family, typically princesses.
The rise, fall & extinction of the priestesses of Hathor are seen in ancient Egyptian culture. The women who wanted to become socially powerful usually took refuge in religion & took the charge of priesthood.
Ancient Egyptian society took women's empowerment much more loosely than ancient Greece & ancient Rome. There women were given the right to their own property. However, after becoming a priestess, a woman is seen not only as an important figure in ancient Egyptian society, but also a living symbol of divinity.
The priestesses of Hathor were called hm ntr hthr & they were one of the most respected people in Egypt. But After the Middle Kingdom of Egypt, the title was often irregularly awarded only to the women of the royal family, typically princesses. This includes the daughter of Ramesses II. At one time their names were completely erased from history.
Egyptologysts have shown that in early days only women of aristocratic lineage could be appointed to the priesthood of Hathor. They were called Badak-Purohit or God's Consort (Hmt nTr). They performed dances and songs during the sacred rites. Because of their menstruation and ability to give child-birth, they were considered unholy, which is why they could not perform sacred duties like dressing up the sacred image of deity.

The Mummy is back, and more ferocious than ever. Or is it? I'd say this is a rather amusing, even cheeky, character. And so I didn't give too much to its "promise" of " I'm coming to get you tonight, so watch out!" Because in reality, and very much not surprising, this birch twig I picked up ages ago for decorative use stays where I put it (however, you should hear its comments on my "disrespectful" description, "You just wait and see, oooooooooh, whooooo!").
At first, I found it a little difficult to make something interesting out of this twig, but after a while of getting extra close to it, both with the Laowa Ultra macro and the tiny 30 mm macro that also has more magnification than a regular macro lens (1,25, which is 2,5 in the full frame equivalent), I started seeing faces. Since I was also attracted by the tiny bark curls I found in some spots, I tried to combine both.
The width of the twig is ca. 1,5 cm/0,59 inches. I did focus stacking (in camera) and, in post, some dodging on the Mummy's "eye" to highlight it. I also used the "Perceptual Saturation" filter in Color Efex to bring out all the colours.

Very small and very cropped and processed.... But interesting enough to share perhaps :)
Think this is a parasitic wasp, on an "aphid mummy", which what is left of the aphid after its been used by these wasps to incubate their young. But I'm probably wrong. Corrections very welcome :)

Little Bee is staying in Mummy Marian’s garden for six months because it’s spring there now and summer is on its way. After the summer, she’ll head back to Daddy Jesse’s garden in Australia because it’ll be spring and summer there then. That way, she always has plenty of nectar. Now that she’s in the Netherlands, she misses her friends Little Lady Bird and Bumble.
Thank goodness the internet was invented!
