This effect is caused by not having enough samples, there are gaps that cause a multiple exposure look instead of a blur.
I wandered around my yard using my canon eor r and my lensbaby velvet 56 with settings for 5 shot multiple exposure. I didn't do much post processing but did add filters with the software on my computer. I'm happy with some of the patterns that were captured.
Double exposure by grandpaspix in Iowa, using a 1946 Argoflex E, and david_cory in Indiana, using an Agfa Speedex B2 of unknown vintage. The film was Kodak TX400, developed in Diafine.

My theme is passing of time. I used this doorway as the frame for my picture. I took inspiration for Holga photos, I added some distortion and vignetting. However when I made it square it lost too much of the photo.
0.2s exposures shot in burst mode with a tripod and a shutter remote depressed from around the apex of the rocket's flight to the dying of the last embers. The exposures were combined by taking the max with ImageMagick's convert, and cropped with gimp.
I liked the blue trails, but the smoke was blurred by the wind. Since it was red I used the gimp to deemphasize red and green in all the exposures except the one where the smoke was most photogenic. (The 3rd one, as you can tell by counting the bolts in the blue trails.)
