0.2s exposures shot in burst mode with a tripod and a shutter remote depressed from around the apex of the rocket's flight to the dying of the last embers. The exposures were combined by taking the max with ImageMagick's convert, and cropped with gimp.

 

I liked the blue trails, but the smoke was blurred by the wind. Since it was red I used the gimp to deemphasize red and green in all the exposures except the one where the smoke was most photogenic. (The 3rd one, as you can tell by counting the bolts in the blue trails.)

Photographs taken with long exposure from PC screen in slideshow mode. Moire patterning is evident, but gives an arty feel to it.

Experimenting with Multiple Exposure setting. Moved the crab from one spot to another. Two exposures, no tripod, manual shutter. Can see the blur.
