Mud baths in Southern Turkey

All public or private beaches close after sunset. They say it's an agreement between countries.

A powerful close-up of an African elephant covered in mud, its textured skin forming a natural armor against the sun. The intricate details of its face and ears highlight the beauty and resilience of these magnificent creatures in the African wilderness.

Last weekend when the Toronto Wolfpack made their professional Rugby League debut they were hot favourites to progress in the Challenge cup against Siddal ARLFC. Their marquee signing is this man Fui Fui Moi Moi, a ferocious forward who has excelled at the very highest standards in the game. He is seen here entering the field and taking the applause of local Siddal fans. Yes, Toronto went on to win but shortly before the end of the mudbath of a game he was sent off for a high challenge on an opponent.

This week, Toronto played their first league game against London Skolars and ran out emphatic 76-0 winners. Fui Fui made his point with a hat trick of tries.

“The Jabiimi sure can put on a fight!”

“We’ve got to take that trench, troopers, lets move!”

“Sir, I can barely see shit.”

“What are we even shooting at?”

“These wet cloaks just make everything heavier, I thought they had to prevend that from happening?”

“Some microbinoculars would have been nice to have in this foggy mudbath, miserly Republic.”

“CT-7533, on your right!”

“Sir, when exactly will those AT-TE’s arrive?”

“Sir, we’re gaining a lot of ground on the East.”

“Sir,…”

“Sir,…”

“Sir!”

“Did you enjoy your nap, sir? Or were you just gazing in the distance, I couldn’t tell the difference with your helmet on.” The in mud covered trooper giggles. You smile and slowly wake up, followed by asking him a status report.

“That’s why I woke you, sir. We have taken all of the trenches on the East and North side and we’ve got the Jabiimi Nationalists on the run. We think they will regroup at there forward base and hit us back with a big assault.”

You hear and feel a cold breeze going through the trenches, sounding like a ghost wispering in the comlink of your helmet. You pause for a second and think. “We have to prepare ourselfs for what’s coming, trooper! Count our munition, gather the food and get rid of those corpses. The trenches will be filled with fresh ones later I’m afraid.”

Jester and Muck just told us about our next mission. Jabiim. I heard it’s a real hellhole, lots of mud, fog and rain covering the whole planet. Hence why we need to report to the armory to pick up our new ‘mission essential’ gear.

Kinda unfortunate, I really liked my ARF gear. I heard the new armor has a different color, AGAIN. More camouflage and cloaks. Made so that our boots and armor doesn’t get filled with water and mud. Our armor is heavy enough already, so everything that prevents it from getting more heavy I’ll be more than willing to accept. And I also don’t want any sand and mud between my skin and armor.

My newest mission for the 253rd is finally here! I'm very excited to show you this one. For once, I'm also glad with how the log turned out haha :D

Enjoy!

Mud Bathing

Most beaches have mud pots by the sea's edge where you can self-administer a full-body mud pack.

Leave it in place to bake under the sun for five to ten minutes and then wash it off in the sea.

It tightens the skin and leaves it feeling smooth, tingly and refreshed.

Lowest Point

The Dead Sea is located in the Syro-African Rift, a 4000-mile fault line in the earth’s crust. The lowest point of dry land on earth is the shoreline of the Dead Sea at 1300 feet below sea level. That the lake is at the lowest point means that water does not drain from this lake. Daily 7 million tons of water evaporate but the minerals remain, causing the salt content to increase. Figures for the Dead Sea’s salinity today range from 26-35%.

Mineral-Rich

Nearly ten times as salty as the world’s oceans and twice as saline as the Great Salt Lake in Utah, the Dead Sea is rich with minerals. The Dead Sea Works company on the southwest side of the lake employs 1600 people around the clock to harvest the valuable minerals from the water. Potash is the most valuable of those extracted today and is used in the manufacture of fertilizer.

Ojo Caliente is one of our most favorite weekend get away spots. Ojo is an historic hot springs resort and spa in Northern New Mexico, known for its unique mineral-rich, sulfur-free waters. Located in a secluded desert valley, the resort is one of the oldest natural health resorts in the United States, with a history of healing that dates back centuries, including use by Native Americans.

They have four distinct mineral types / pools to soak in... Lithia, Iron, Arsenic & Soda each with it's own purported therapeutic properties.

The African or Savannah buffalo is traditionally known as the meanest beast in the bush, prone to launch a killing charge at the drop of a hat. Although this is the natural reaction of almost any buffalo that is being shot at, many non-provoked, solitary males like the one in this image also do it. The most common species, a very large black-pelted grassland dweller, can weigh up to 1,750 pounds.

In South Africa, we were out for a night drive following a Pride of Lions, which were tracking a herd of Cape Buffalos. One of the large lions jumped on the back of a male buffalo and tried to bite through his spinal cord. The buffalo headed at full speed toward a tree with low hanging branches and knocked him off.

Understandably angry, the buffalo turned around and charged our 4x4 at full speed. The guide slammed the gearshift into reverse and the gas pedal to the floor. We went flying backwards over rough ground. The buffalo having made his point backed off on his charge.

It was one of the most exciting experiences on the trip, but not one that I would want to repeat.

Older males are generally forced out of the group. They tend to be solitary or join bachelor herds. You might hear guides refer to them as "old dagga boys". The word "dagga" is Zulu and means mud - it refers to the fact that they like wallowing in mud

This is a computer altered variation of an original oil painting on canvas. The original I posted some time back and later a similar variation. I later found several areas in that variation needed correcting so I trust this latest variation of the bathers overcomes the earlier inconsistencies. The original was influenced by the well known painting by David Bromberg of the Mudbath. Which he painted around 1914 just before the outbreak of the First World War. He and some other young British artists had attempted to respond to contemporary art movements in France and other art centres in Europe that brought so much change in art in those times. Soon involved in the Front Line in Flanders’s. David Bromberg having survived the War, rejected his former modern approach when he resumed in artwork post 1918. The Mudbath and several of his pre 1914 WW1 were only discovered after his passing in 1957. I attended David Bomberg’s evening drawing classes at the Borough Polytechnic in South East London between 1950 and 1953_

It is the lack of the knowledge of God and his commandments and

not listening to his word of truth.

Not the knowledge of this world which is corrupted and full of

lies and denial of God .

Matthew 24 : 37-38

" But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be."

Hosea 4:6

"My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children."

After the Resort and Spa in the Dead Sea, after 29 days of travel, I read about this men's bath some days of the week, 'Marrakech Moroccan Hamman'.

The article says, 'Pamper yourself in true Middle Eastern style with a 2-hour and 40-minute Turkish' hamam '(traditional Turkish bath) experience in Amman. After a steam bath, enjoy an invigorating body scrub and gentle massage: a time-honored procedure dating back to the Ottoman Empire that was central to Middle Eastern culture. You'll come away feeling totally relaxed and renewed. Your 2-hour-40-minute package (there are several packges).

One of the city's Middle Eastern bath houses. Head inside, and be shown to a locker room to your nahn (wooden clogs), and pestemal (traditional, towel-like robe). Then, enter the steam room; a tiled, dimly lit room filled with hot, moist air. Take a seat and relax in the steam, waiting as you build up a sweat and the humidity teases toxins and impurities out of your skin. After a maximum of 15 minutes here, relax on a warmed stone or in the rest areas, and pour soothing warm water over your body from the copper bowls. Then, stretch out and enjoy an invigorating body scrub performed by one of the skilled attendants using a kese (exfoliating mitt). Bask in the long, sweeping movements designed to cleanse your pores, stimulate circulation and remove any dead skin.Next, relax into a soapy scrub as the attendant smothers you in clouds of soft suds, and enjoy a wonderful 15-minute massage five different massages with refugee Syrian men), perhaps with rose water and oils.

Afterward, retire to a relaxation room, and sip a refreshing tea as you enjoy the feeling of total rejuvenation and relaxation. Be sure to drink plenty of water to compensate for the loss of fluids. The duration of your Turkish bath can vary, but in total, most experiences last between an hour and 1.5 hours.

Santa Monica beach L.A.

Following their afternoon bottles, the keepers hosed down the little elephants and added more water to the big mud bath area. Elephants love a good mud bath and the orphans are no exception.

With no sweat glands, the cooler mud helps them regulate their body temperature and provide a natural sunscreen. Mud is also a great way to get rid of any parasites on the skin. But most of all, it’s just a lot of fun.
