The mpower garden project recieved £20,000 through the Youth Opportunity Fund to expand accessible leisure activities in the Markfield garden. The Youth Opportunity Fund is money given to positive projects across England by local panels of young people making the decisions.
The MPower group is made up of 14 young people aged 12 - 19 who developed the plans and raised the money to make changes to the garden. The group used drama and activities to learn about how to fundraise. Overall the group raised over £50,000 for their work, and as a winner in the Action Speak Louder competition, they will receive extra funds to expand their plans further.
