Like Men and Women Shadows walk
Upon the Hills Today --
With here and there a mighty Bow
Or trailing Courtesy
To Neighbors doubtless of their own
Not quickened to perceive
Minuter landscape as Ourselves
And Boroughs where we live --

The Wrawby Windmill dates from 1760-90 it was used until 1940, it sat unused until 1961. The Wrawby Windmill Preservation Society restored it to its former glory. It reopened on the 18th September 1965 and the first bag of corn was ground. Wrawby Windmill is now one of only 42 remaining postmills and only a handful of them are well maintained and in working condition like this one.
This is of course is edited, just playing with new editing apps.

I made this little video in April 2008. It's very simple...basic...but it's the only 'movie' I've ever really made, and I'm really rather fond of it.

I do love these shots, this is another from last week. I was going through photos last night and I just can't toss some of them away =)
The cranks on the side of each slide is connected to gears in the center of the slide. When the handle is cranked an image in the circle moves in a circular motion. The lantern slides are all hand drawn and painted on a round glass disc. This set is dated around 1870. It was going to e be discarded by a school when my wife rescued it and brought it home.
Excerpt from the Information Board:
This is a really impressive optical illusion which combines several optical illusions. Three dimensional paintings when viewed from the front initially gives the impression of viewing a painted flat surface that shows a perspective view. However, as soon as the viewer moves their head even slightly the three dimensional surface that supports the perspective view accentuates the depth of the image and accelerates the shifting perspective far more than the brain normally allows. This provides a powerful and often disorienting impression of depth and movement. The illusion is made possible by painting the view in reverse to the relief of the surface, that is, the bits that stick out farthest from the painting are painted with the most distant part of the scene.
There is a hummingbird nest just outside our front door. The hummingbird gets feisty and attacks us whenever we go outside.
It sounds like this "peep peep peep Buzzzzz buzzzz buzzzz squawk peep!"
While puzzling what to produce for Macro Mondays String theme, I read a passage from my current book.
Moving Pictures, by Terry Pratchett:
"Victor found himself wedged between Ginger and a mountain troll in what looked like chain mail, but it turned out to be just Holy Wood chain mail, which was inexpertly knitted string painted silver."
Problem solved, a quick raid of my old knitting box to find this string-like cotton yarn, a bit of knitting with large needles, and some painting with silver nail varnish, and I had Holy Wood Chain Mail.
One corner of a 2" square piece of knitting (on old school size 3 needles for those who might be interested).

Here's a painting I made a few years ago and then just animated with Plotagraph on the iPad. Thanks again for keeping Plotagraph in the top 40 apps in the app store! (Full disclosure, I am a part owner but maybe you know that by now!) - If you want to play with it yourself, here's a link:
