Ab den Sommermonaten kam es zu einem interessanten Auftrag für das schwedische Unternehmen Hectorrail. Aufgrund von Fahrzeug- und Personalmangel vergab DB Cargo die Beförderung eines gemischten Güterzugpaares zwischen Nürnberg Rangierbahnhof und München Nord an das private EVU. Zur Beförderung der Leistung wurden meist Taurus-Maschinen herangezogen. Die Hinleistung erfolgte vormittags planmäßig über Ingolstadt, die Rückleistung am Nachmittag lief über Augsburg. Am 29. Juli 2021 wurde allerdings beide Male der Weg über die KBS 910 gewählt. Grund hierfür waren Bauarbeiten bei Pfaffenhofen. In Langweid gelang mir eine Aufnahme der 242.531 vor dem EZ 51732 nach München Nord.
Starting in the summer months, an interesting contract was obtained for the Swedish company Hectorrail. Due to a lack of vehicles and staff, DB Cargo contracted the carriage of a mixed goods train pair between Nuremberg shunting yard and Munich North to the private RU. Mostly Taurus machines were used to transport the service. The outbound service was run in the morning via Ingolstadt, the return service in the afternoon ran via Augsburg. On 29 July 2021, however, the route via KBS 910 was chosen both times. The reason for this was construction work near Pfaffenhofen. In Langweid I managed to take a picture of the 242.531 in front of the EZ 51732 to Munich North.
I don’t know what the turning circle of an old Fist 500 is but their size surely made them a good fit with the narrow lanes that are standard in the old Italian towns, cities and villages. This example was photographed in the mountain top village of Motta Camastra.
Motta Camastra is a small town that has apparently been used in the Godfather films. It is situated ten miles inland from the Sicilian east coast and although very attractive in many ways has a run down feel to it. There doesn't seem to be much evidence of investment and the population of the town is reducing quite quickly. As a result there are many empty and decaying properties. From afar as seen here it really does make a fine picture.
