Vor drei Wochen zog es Tobi und mich am Sonntag, den 13. November, an die Nord-Süd-Strecke zwischen Hannover und Eichenberg. Die Idee zu dieser Tour kam am Vorabend sehr spontan, da wir mitbekommen hatten, dass eine BSAS Eurodual mit dem passenden MAD-Kesselzug die NSS runterfahren sollte. Das Foto dazu findet ihr bereits in meinem Fotostream.

Und so rollten wir Sonntagmorgen gemütlich über die Autobahn und Landstraße in Richtung Leinetal. Zunächst steuerten wir in Wispenstein für eine Stunde die bekannte Fotostelle an, wo wir bereits beim Parken von einem sehr netten Anwohner sofort als Eisenbahnfotografen erkannt wurden. Danach ging es nach Niedernjesa, wo schon weitere Fotografen auf den BSAS-Kesselzug warteten. Bereits wenige Minuten nach unserer Ankunft senkte sich die Schranke hinter uns und der erste Zug aus Richtung Göttingen kündigte sich an. Zu unserer Freude waren es die beiden Hectorrail Stiere 242.531 "La Motta" und 242.503 "Balboa" mit einem bunten Containerzug auf dem Weg in den Süden. Und so konnten wir auf unserer Sonntagstour ein zweites Tageshighlight neben dem BSAS-Kesselzug erwischen.

I don’t know what the turning circle of an old Fist 500 is but their size surely made them a good fit with the narrow lanes that are standard in the old Italian towns, cities and villages. This example was photographed in the mountain top village of Motta Camastra.

Motta Camastra is a small town that has apparently been used in the Godfather films. It is situated ten miles inland from the Sicilian east coast and although very attractive in many ways has a run down feel to it. There doesn't seem to be much evidence of investment and the population of the town is reducing quite quickly. As a result there are many empty and decaying properties. From afar as seen here it really does make a fine picture.
