With 95% of the population of Azerbaijan being Muslim I don’t suppose this should be too much of a surprise. This photo was taken from around the back of the mosque. It was busy with a steady stream of visitors including one bloke from the minibus I travelled upon.
Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca, Morocco.
The Hassan II Mosque (Arabic: مسجد الحسن الثاني, French: Grande Mosquée Hassan II) is a mosque in Casablanca, Morocco. It is the second largest functioning mosque in Africa and is the 7th largest in the world. Its minaret is the world's second tallest minaret at 210 metres (689 ft). Completed in 1993, it was designed by Michel Pinseau under the guidance of King Hassan II and built by Moroccan artisans from all over the kingdom. The minaret is 60 stories high topped by a laser, the light from which is directed towards Mecca. The mosque stands on a promontory looking out to the Atlantic Ocean; worshippers can pray over the sea but there is no glass floor looking into the sea. The walls are of hand-crafted marble and the roof is retractable. A maximum of 105,000 worshippers can gather together for prayer: 25,000 inside the mosque hall and another 80,000 on the mosque's outside ground.—from Wikipedia

Bezmialem Valide Sultan Mosque was building by the architect Nikogos Balyan who created many important works in the 19th century Ottoman architecture. Bezmialem Valide Sultan Mosque attention with its baroque style architecture.
From the main gate, this mosque is to the left of the Taj Mahal. This is still a functioning mosque, so the Taj Mahal and its grounds are closed to visitors on Fridays for prayers. For symmetry, there is an identical building to the right of the mausoleum that once functioned as a library and study center. The Taj Mahal was built as a mausoleum by the 5th Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan, for his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. The Mughals were Islamic invaders from central Asia. At the height of their empire, they controlled almost all of the subcontinent.
An Ultra-Wide-Angle Capture of the Nizamiya Turkish Mosque in Midrand, Greater Johannesburg, South Africa. This gives something of a sense of the sheer vastness and remarkable symmetry of the mosque interior. It can take up to 6000 worshoppers - as many folk as the quorum in the classical Athenian Ecclesia required. I have used a 'cold-tone' desaturation technique to emphasize the architectural geometry and extraordinary symmetry of the interior.
Selimiye Mosque. It was built in Edirne/Turkey during 1568-1575 by architect Mimar Sinan upon the orders of Sultan Selim II.
We were having lunch at a rooftop restaurant when a ship passed behind the Blue Mosque. The hazy day left the ship in the background and helped the details of the mosque to stand out.
The mosque had been commissioned in 1558 by Selim II. The construction was completed in 1570 after Selim became the sultan. Later, it was repaired thrice: in 1685, 1816, and 1914.

A perspective work from Haliç/ Golden Horn Metro Station Bridge. They look so diffrent despite they are both mosques, Hagia Sophia is like the oldest sister of the family who is adopted at first so she can't really fit in other siblings but all the other siblings adore her but she doesn't like them back. New Mosque is like the middle child to me. It is the first mosque when you enter the historic peninsula yet many people ignore it and move on to see "real" place. It is sad. It's like he is jelous of all the fame and attention Hagia Sophia gets. He prepares revenge plans yet no one cares.
