I was inspired to create these images after contemplation about how I could explore anatomy, a classical topic for art creation but an important one in my view. When we see the human body today we become distracted by appearance and insecurity and I feel we have begun to forget how remarkable life is, and our everyday functions which work so complexly, every minute to keep us alive. I looked into artists who explore this, and then did repeated practise of anatomical features to learn how they act and look inside of us. For these photos I painted the anatomically accurately placed muscles and veins on models and photographed them; with the exception of the more abstract painting on the far right model where i matched the colours and feeling of the muscles movement in an impressionist style, more paint like appearance. With my chosen photographs i edited using photoshop to keep the paint in colour and people in low contrast black and white - this was to emphasise the important elements of us, not to be distracted by the little things.

This is me morphed into Tiny Tim! This is one scary looking Tiny Tim! I visited the Walt Disney Christmas Carol Tour Train a couple weeks ago in Chicago and at the end of the tour you can morph yourself into one of the film's characters. I wanted to become one of the ghosts, but they were not available. The movie will be released in November 2009.
