Morgan Olson is an American company that produces aluminum walk-in vans, founded in 1946 by Jimmy Olson in Long Beach, New York Previously owned by Northrop Grumman and doing business as Grumman Olson for several decades, the company was then taken over by a group of senior managers. In 2003, Grumman Olson was purchased by the American company JBPCO, who also owned Morgan Corp., the then-largest manufacturer of truck bodies in the United States. Grumman Olson was renamed Morgan Olson in 2004. The idea for the first aluminum walk-in van was originated by Walter Heingartner, owner of Kinney Motors Chevrolet in Brooklyn, NY. Heingartner was friends with Jimmy Olson, then Commissioner of the New York State Liquor Authority. Olson had no truck experience, but knowing there were ten independent laundry companies in Brooklyn alone, he saw a market, he and partner "Jake" Swirbul, a concept vehicle was produced in 1939, but the project was shelved for the duration of WWII After the war, Olson and three partners formulated J.B.E. Olson Corporation on Coney Island Avenue in Brooklyn. The company prospered and in 1984 was awarded a contract woth over 0ne billion dollars to supply 150,000 Grumman LLVs to the UA Postal Service. By the 1990s and with a declining sales the company fell into difficulty, being declared bankrupt in 2001. The company was purchased by JBPCO, a parent company whose sales are nearly one billion annually, in 2003. At that time the name of the company was changed to Morgan Olson.
The Route Star van was introduced in 1990 ,as an aluminium bodied step Walk Through van built in five sizes with load capacities of 7,600 to 14,000lbs GVWR which is built to customer requirements, the advantage of the multi purpose, multiple chassis van has seen it adapted to the requirements of many of Americas leading fleet operators, including Amazon, Fed Ex and Coca Cola. The van survived the winding up of Grumman Olson and continued in production under the Morgan Olson

I photographed this old Grumman Olson Kurbside delivery van at the Gold King Mine-Ghost Town in Jerome, AZ. The Grumman Olson Kurbside step van was introduced in 1948 by the J.B.E. Olson Corporation. J.B.E. Olson Corp was founded in 1946 by Jimmy Olson former head of the New York state Liquor Authority and Walter Heingartner owner of Kinney Motors Chevrolet in Brooklyn, N.Y. Mr. Olson teamed up with the Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corp in 1946 and they built a predecessor to the Kurbside aimed at the laundry industry called the Kargo King but only about 300 units of this truck were made. The Grumman Olson Kurbside was built on a Chevrolet truck chassis, the body is made entirely of aluminum and was originally produced by a related company called Aerobuilt Bodies. Chevrolet sold their own version of the Grumman Olson Kurbside for many years, I believe it was marketed as the Chevrolet Dubl-Duti 3000 Forward Control van and could be ordered as a 3/4-ton Model 3742 with 125” wheelbase & 7,000 LB GVWR or a 1 ton Model 3942 with 137” wheelbase & 10,000 LB GVWR. Identifying old Chevy Forward Control step vans can be quite confusing however because they could be purchased with bodies made by many other companies besides Grumman. The Kurbside was produced through at least 1969, this one is probably one of the last Kurbside model years because it has front side windows that are separate from the double pane windshield. (Kurbside’s in previous years had a rounded double pane windshield that wrapped around the corners). Grumman Olson, now know as Morgan Olson, has also produced the P600 & P800 UPS delivery trucks (the P800 has the rounded front end, circle headlamps and eyebrow type roof that came out around 1965) as well as the small very square, very basic USPS delivery truck known as the LLV Long Life Vehicle which came out in 1987.
A Canada Post truck, a UPS delivery truck, and an RCMP Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor, plus a Honda Accord and a Chevy Impala Blue Line taxi, parked next to the Clarica Centre on O'Connor Street in downtown Ottawa, between Albert Street and Queen Street.
I did not know this until today, but apparently the most common design of UPS van as seen in this shot is manufactured by a surprisingly obscure company called Morgan Olson (formerly Grumman Olson), which also makes the walk-in vans used by Canada Post, also as seen in this shot.

A diminutive Canada Post mail van parked outside Dollar Blitz in the Merivale Market strip mall in the Ottawa suburb of Nepean.
I wasn't sure who made these vans. I thought it might have been Grumman like the larger vans, but then I had a close look at this photo and was rather surprised to see the Chevrolet logo on the hubcaps.
Doing a little research, I found this Adobe Acrobat pdf document from Transport Canada that calls this truck the "Canada Post Solectria-Grumman LLV Electric Postal Delivery Truck". So why does it have Chevy hubcaps, then?
Wikipedia has the answer. The body and final assembly is from Grumman, but General Motors builds the chassis.
This Bratwerk food truck has a Stepvan body made by Morgan Olsen. The van is based on the Ford E-Series.

This is the regular-sized mail van that Canada Post uses, and it's called a "step van" because of the ease at which the driver can step in and out of the vehicle due to the low chassis.
This one was photographed parked outside a Shoppers Drug Mart pharmacy with a Canada Post counter in the Merivale Market strip mall in the Ottawa suburb of Nepean.

I have no idea, but the driver of this particular UPS Truck drove up construction-torn Preston Street, torn apart for resurfacing, as far as he could (Spruce Street, a block north of Somerset Street) before a completely impassible pit made him get out of the van to deliver a parcel just north of Spruce.

Building the Best...this has been the mission and the driving force behind Morgan Olson since it is inception more than 60 years ago.
The idea for the first aluminum bodied truck orientated in Brooklyn New York, when the owner of a laundry, complained to a friend that their steel truck bodies were too just heavy. This friend, Jimmy Olson did not know much about truck bodies, but with about 10 laundry companies in Brooklyn alone, he saw a market for lighter trucks. An aluminum body would be lighter than steel, would last longer and could handle the moisture and corrosive substances associated with the laundry business.
Over the course of the next few years, Jimmy Olson and his partners developed the first ever aluminum walk-in body, which would be named the Kurbside. As its demand grew, so did its offerings. More sizes, more options, all with the same mission in mind - listen to the customer and build to their needs.
Mr. Olson was also successful in pioneering Chevrolet to provide body builders with a true stripped chassis to eliminate the modification of cab chassis or cowl chassis.
Over the years, thousands of companies have depended on Morgan Olson to provide them with innovative delivery vehicles to get their product to their customers, on-time, every time. None more notable than in 1986, when the United States Postal Service (USPS), relied on Morgan Olson to develop the next generation postal delivery vehicle. Over the course of the next 10 years Morgan Olson produced over 150,000 units all of which can be seen in neighborhoods throughout the country.

EDIT: It didn't occur to me at the time, or when I first wrote the captions for these photos, but this shot in particular, of a UPS truck on a "crumbling" street, reminds me in a weird way of the very slow-paced Hitoshi Ashinano sci-fi slice-of-life manga Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou (episode 2), about some aspects of normal everyday life continuing in a post-apocalyptic yet very gentle version of Japan.
