I celebrated another birthday on the 28th. Lots of reflecting. Life's too short for the things that keep us from being our happiest. Going to try to change that this year. Less drama and negativity. More laughter, more celebrating, more joy and happiness.

For this weeks theme of peace, I decided that the world needed a little more love, acceptance and understanding. If only it was as easy as this. Lets hope for a more peaceful world in 2017.
To many outsiders, it may seem like all I need is to explore the world, and that is true—traveling is very important to me for my learning and personal growth. However, I believe that true happiness is found at home. ✨♥️
Prince Handsome is 18 today and I'm a proud mother. Every year, when we ask him what he wants for his birthday, he jokes: "Love, kisses...". And since he was a little boy, when people ask him what he wants to be in the future he's got always the same answer and the same obvious laughter: "I wanna be happy!". That keeps being his logical sense for life and I can see how successfully he is in pursuing that goal. I know nobody who feels life as happilly as my son does, yet keeping a realistic and responsible attitude.
All I wish you is that you keep being what you are, Prince Perfect! And here's the only birthday present you ask every year: tons of love!
I have been ridiculously busy lately, so both flickr and photography have taken a back seat.
However, I am unable to let Saint Valentine's Day go by without special mention, so I took a post from two years ago and brought it upfront and center.

It's a crazy and chaotic season...
filled with too much to do...
too much to spend...
too much running around and waiting in line...
too much cooking and too much cleaning...
but then there's that special moment that you accept that you're never gonna get it all done and you accept defeat...
and you sit down and look at that Christmas tree and you think about what it all means...
That moment is 'Christmas' for me...
when all the other stuff fades away and I think about the happy faces and the warm hugs of the ones I love...
when I think about feelin' the love.
Even if you don't celebrate Christmas I wish I could have had all of you over to celebrate with my family at Chateu du Minder in the woods.
It's a beautiful place and I'm gonna take you there.
It's loud...
it's crowded...
and it's so filled with love...
and if you want some quiet there's a couple of wine cellars filled with some wine that Old Man Minder vints up...
between the love and the wine you'd be feelin' fine.
Merry Christmas everyone.
My wish is that everyone feel all of that love this year.

I was deeply immersed in my calculations to take over the earth in my evil lair.
When I'm plotting to take over the world I do enjoy a little quiet.
It helps me to focus on my evil plans.
It's hard to maintain the concentration necessary when you've got three girls plotting things of their own.
From the kitchen I heard laughter... then silence... then 'where's the scotch tape...
it was obvious that there was some kind of conspiracy brewing so I grabbed my camera and quietly snuck into the kitchen.
I thought maybe the daily batch of cupcakes was being decorated or something.
What I saw was an amazing act of juvenile intrigue.
A homemade five foot long crazy straw that was made with a whole bunch of regular straws taped together.
I arrived just in time to see it used for the first time.
That was the craziest crazy straw ever I swear to gahd.

I originally photographed this using the Google Pixel 6a's Photosphere mode, but that didn't turn out all that great, so I took individual frames and stitched it with Autopano Giga. I didn't take enough images to fully cover the upper right corner so I had to patch that up with Photoshop.
today is my ten year wedding anniversary. 16 years together. i can't believe it has been that long. although when i look in the mirror, i realize it must be. we have done so many things together. marriage is hard. and while i sometimes think that men and women living together is some sort of cruel joke, i love it. the comfort of really knowing someone, feeling that body next to you in bed at night and knowing there is someone else to go through everything with you. also having someone to be really honest with you about things you need to change. they help you evolve and vice versa.
my husband works really hard for anna and me. tells me that without us, he would be nothing. he leaves me lipstick notes like the one in this photo on just regular days... i love him so much and while we have had many ups and downs, i want to always strive to make it better. he is a good man and i am a lucky girl.
there is no remedy for love but to love more.

Behind every single face there are struggles fought daily.
Some big, some not so.
Some victorious, some defeatist.
Some faces may hide their battles better than others.
These wars that rage in our souls
are part of the human condition
...diagnosed or not,
there's nothing to be ashamed of.
At anytime of life, absolutely anyone's
head can become the most lonely,
dark, worst of places to be..
In such times finding an escape,
or some direction, may seem impossible.
So we reach out hoping someone is there for us. A soul to share, talk to, scream at,
to cry with, be hugged by or to
simply find some peace in the
comfortable silence of a friend.

It's Friday!
And the love is everywhere!
People are smilin' at each other on the sidewalk.
Hugs are flyin' around everywhere back and forth.
The weather's been incredible.
Flowers are bloomin' all over the place!
The leaves are fillin' up the trees.
I'm going on a roadtrip.
A long and awesome roadtrip.
The kids wanna go camping.
There's a place down in Arkansas where you can find these giant crystals.
We'll spend the weekend there campin' and digging for the giant quartz crystals.
Then I think we'll stop in Hot Springs and grab a hotel and enjoy the hot springs there.
I love loungin' in the hot springs.
I've always been a big fan of 'lounging' and the hot springs make it so much better.
The next day the roadtrip' continues in the spirit of exploration and adventure we'll head south...
to New Orleans.
I got us a cush hotel room in a haunted old hotel...
with eighteen foot ceilings in the rooms...
you can totally get some wicked air jumpin' on the bed with a ceiling that high!
I think we'll stay there for the week.
We'll explore the French Quarter, the Warehouse District, the Garden District and I gotta stop in at Marie LaVeau's House of Voodoo to stock up on amulets, antidotes, voodoo love potions and stuff.
I am gonna be shootin' street something fierce from here all the way to the Gulf of Mexico.
Just gonna hit the Mississippi River, take a left and follow the Big Muddy south.
The kids wanna go on one of those airboats in the swamps too.
They wanna see the ocean.
They wanna catch an alligator.
No... they really wanna watch me catch an alligator.
They're always tryin' to get me to wrestle alligators.
Man it's gonna be a good time.
I'm lovin' life.
I could feel the love you know?
I love takin' the family on long roadtrips.
I downloaded all the 'Weird and Strange America' stuff on my GPS.
And since I'm a Dad we'll be stopping at every single historical marker on the way.
Where I will read it aloud and imagine how it was... and the kids will wonder what they've done to deserve it.
I've got every one of those historical markers stored in the TomTom GPS too.
Along with the Civil War Battlefields, famous plane crash sites, haunted places...
I got Roadtrip Bingo cards and everything.
I do just dig an awesome road trip.
