The moor has stark beauty at all times of the year.

The moors on a stormy February day.

Start of the North York moors

Another image from a visit to Hathersage Moor one morning in late August. The weather didn't seem at all promising, with drizzle and thick cloud. Just before I had to leave the gaps started to appear in the clouds and the sun came out to light up the moorland and bring out the colour in the heather.

I came across further fields of Phacelia as I cycled towards the coast, seeing at least half a dozen.

The long pano format is to include the "Alnwick Golf Ball" (ie the early warning radar dome) overlooking the town from the top of Alnwick Moor and also a couple of outlying Cheviot hills on the horizon beyond the colourful oilseed rape & Phacelia fields.

A hazy view of the Black Mount from Lochan nah Achlaise on Rannoch Moor.

Rannoch Moor (/ˈrænəx/ (listen), Scottish Gaelic: Mòinteach Raineach/Raithneach) is an expanse of around 50 square miles (130 km2) of boggy moorland to the west of Loch Rannoch in Scotland, where it extends from and into westerly Perth and Kinross, northerly Lochaber (in Highland), and the area of Highland Scotland toward its south-west, northern Argyll and Bute. Rannoch Moor is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and a Special Area of Conservation.[2] Much of the western part of the moor lies within the Ben Nevis and Glen Coe National Scenic Area,[3] one of 40 such areas in Scotland

Another view of the derelict cottage by Oaking Clough reservoir on the Hallam Moors. Probably built by Sheffield Water Works, (there's a small stone with the letters SWW engraved in it nearby) and shared by water board workers and grouse shooters.

The mooring bollard is situated at Varyl Begg housing Estate. Before the housing estate was build it was ssurrounded by sea and vessels used it for mooring. The housing estate was named by former Governor of Gibraltar Sir Varyl Begg Admiral of the Fleet,From March 1969 to October 1973.

This swamp only spreads over a very small part of the forest, and this is more or less the only spot to photograph it, so I waited for fog to gather in the morning. It gives this spot it's certain something.

This is the road down Danby Dale to the village of Castleton and the hill is called Danby Low Moor.

It is located in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, England

If you look carefully on top of the hill you can see the new telephone mast (wrong company for me)
