'Fly away from here...'

My mother, Mary, was laid to rest on Tuesday 3rd October, after a touching service with her family, relatives, and friends all

in attendance.

During the week before her funeral I spent a few days away from the emotional stress of losing her, and relaxed in a converted barn in Cornwall, UK.

My three siblings insisted I took some much needed rest to recoup before her final farewell, and during the calm, late September misty mornings looking across the fields from the cottage, I managed to capture one rather special moment.

It seemed a fitting image to remind me of her passing, and to share here with you all.

It's good to be back on flickr dear friends, but I may be slow in revving up into full gear, and commenting on all your recent posts.

View On Black

I liked this view, taken a few months ago.... highlighted in the box is the 'Eagle Pole"... part of the Loch Ard Sculpture trail, a family friendly trail with various sculptures environmentally positioned in the forest on the south side of the Loch...

Check out the making of the pole and information and a map of the trail here...

From our adventure to Disneyland Paris

My friend and fellow enthusiast Gerard Fletcher, from Wisbech in Cambridgeshire, said one day 'well what about seeing you in a picture Stuart'? Okay then well here I am folks on a Sunday morning after having played the organ and conducted the choir at St. Michael's Parish Church on Slateford Road.

This picture, taken by my church officer Richard Given, is at the Gyle terminus very near to Edinburgh Airport and features P268PSX. During it's 12 years in service in Lothian it was often given more special treatment than other vehicles in the fleet and when new in June 1997 Lothian would often show 268 at exhibitions and fleet demonstrations.

Until 1999 Edinburgh's buses were all in madder red and white livery (Olympians and Atlanteans too) and the new Alexander Royales (1997) would stand out and be recogniseable at quite a distance with their curvy wrap-around frontage.

I created a calendar for 2009 using some of my collection of Alexander Royales and Dr. Anderson, from Edinburgh University, says this is the best picture on the calendar!

A model of 268 can be purchased from the Lothian Buses website or through Creative Master Northcord Ltd via the Internet.

Demons are stupid and easily fooled. A chicken can be substituted for the patient as it is similar (walks on two legs). More on lankaritual.moonfruit.com/

I was hoping for some nice mist this morning on the Somerset levels, but this was probably excessive :)

I could barely see a thing for over an hour, until it slowly cleared and I came face to face with a herd of cows. I"m really scared of cows. Completely irrational, but true.

Featured on BBC Nature homepage and flickr BLOG. Cheers guys.

"I had rented a camera for the weekend to photograph a friend's wedding, and so had planned to get my money's worth by visiting Richmond Park that Sunday morning long before knowing what the weather conditions were likely to be. I traveled with a friend and luck was on our side. We were treated with tall frozen grass and dense fog that lit up golden as the sun rose in to a cloudless sky. As a herd of red deer made their way into a wooded area this stag and two females hung back for a few minutes. Richmond Park is large enough to compose shots that hide any trace of human presence, however this is my favourite shot of the morning: the stag stood facing into the sun mirrored in the tower blocks on the distant hill, their television antennae mirroring his antlers."
