A fun exhibit at the Brooklyn Public Library's Central Library celebrating the 80th anniversary of the creation of the Moomin characters. Created by author Tove Jansson and first published in Finland - the characters now have a following around the world and the books have been translated into 60 languages.

The Moomins (Swedish: Mumintroll) are the central characters in a series of books and a comic strip by Swedish-speaking Finnish illustrator Tove Jansson, originally published in Swedish by Schildts in Finland. They are a family of white, round fairy tale characters with large snouts that make them resemble hippopotamuses. However, despite this resemblance, the Moomin family are trolls. The family live in their house in Moominvalley, though in the past, their temporary residences have included a lighthouse and a theatre. They have had many adventures along with their various friends.

Ok so this wasn't planned before you lot say anything! lol but yeah anyhoo, here's the story of how Moomin came to be Moomin and how he came to live here!...
ok so Mum's dog's been ill (he has an enlarged heart) and staying in the vet for over a week, and one day when Mum was visiting him, she saw one of the nurses cuddling this rabbit and asked what was wrong with him & if it was the practice's pet (they have a cat who lives there!) anyhoo it turned out he was no-one's as he'd been brought in as a stray and they'd put posters up, and asked around but no luck, so he was there for months...
Craig (the vet) asked if Mum was interested in adopting him and she said Aaron would most likely give him a home and should she put our name down as a possible or whatever, until she got home and spoke to me about it... but Craig said no need and when do you want him etc...and started tearing down the posters off the walls!
Orelle (another vet) told Mum that he might be just what Aaron needs to take his mind of losing Duckula & Cougar recently and the nurses all said how pleased they were that he has a great home after all the months he's been there, so somehow or other it got decided and he moved in last week!
He has one ear that's permanently up and one that's permanently down...he has grey fur with dark grey/black points and black that swirls into his coat at the sides and his fur is as soft as a chinchilla's! We're hoping he'll be a good friend for Chutney who's still missing Mango and very angry with us for taking her away...only thing is he's gotta have his nuts off first!!

Moomin Homestyle Dishes, No. 5 Gratin, from 2017. I've always wanted this pitcher and flowers. It's not that great in person though.
