This Dog is No Man's Best Friend

The Neapolitan Mastiff or Mastino / Mastini (Italian: Mastino Napoletano) is a large, ancient dog breed. This massive breed is often used as a guard and defender of family and property due to their protective instincts and their fearsome appearance.

The monsters of the real world find a reflection in art.

This D&S release of the goofy creature cult flick "Monster Dog" (1984), helmed by the legendary Claudio Fragasso, promises a "disco girl" caught up in a "scary camping trip." Somewhat rare tape had hit-miss tracking issues back in the day, but came with a customer care card for exchanges (!)

My sentiments on dust:

"From Hell's heart, I stab at thee; For hate's sake, I spit my last breath at thee”

And no, I'm not quoting Khan, I'm quoting Melville. If you don't know who Melville is go read "Moby Dick". If you don't know who Khan is - YOU ARE MAKING ME FEEL OLD! :)

Now that it's out of my system, the photographic details. One pair of Oakley Monster Dog Ducati sunglasses on a sheet of black acrylic. Nikon SB-24 in DIY softbox at camera right, another SB-24 with straw grid shot through folded piece of paper to soften light on Oakley "O". I really wanted to get a specular light across the whole lens, but I just couldn't do it. I got close, but nothing I had produced a big enough light. So, I tried to get interesting reflections and lighting from the softbox.

I wish these glasses were brand new, but some of their age shows - but ya gotta work with what ya got.

my collections. 2010.10.

Took me a while to get into the Monster Dog. At the time (2003), they looked huge and I thought no one would get them. But as with most frames, I end up falling for them in the end. Plus with frames like the Oil Drum and Eye Patch, they're not so small anymore.

Arguably the greatest guitarist ever... Dick Dale, (has absolutely noting to do with this image)

You can auger all you want, I'm always correct, (so why bother, I'm glad we agree),

Now here is D.Dale in his 60's (his age, not the era)

Peace.

this one is fo Pixie, to go in my new mag!

This is my mom's dog. His name is Louis. I think he is evil but my mom disagrees. He's super cute when he's not biting or smiling like an evil dog.lol

Just found this image kickin around on my hard drive; took it way back in August.

SB-600, below-left, bounce card. Lenses are in true color.

Flannel mustache man with jet black hair with monster dog. We passed these guys on the trail and they looked so cool that 20 seconds later I had to yell from below "CAN I TAKE A PICTURE OF YOU GUYS?"

Danny checking the surf near home in Toya.

We are still on vacation so we made another trip to the lake. I decided to leave the 50d at home and instead, armed myself with an iPhone. I just got the phone last week and wanted to give the camera a try. It ain't too bad. I won't be giving up the 50d anytime soon or anything but I was impressed with what I was able to get. It will take me awhile to get used to it's limits (it's of course not even close to replacing the 50d, especially for shooting my dogs in action) but I think i'm gonna like it for the times I want to lighten my load and just take some fun snapshots, like this one. And there is so much wrong with this shot, 3 toes clipped, it's blurry, his head is chopped ... but I still like it cause it's Sammy doing something silly and it reminds me of one of our 2012 days at the lake. :)

This is my neighbours dog, I am definitely going to make him my friend....he's been staying with friends since he was a puppy and now they have him back...

He is a Rottweiler, I really hope he wants to be my friend, he's a big dog!!

This is the St Bernard I posted a shot of a couple of weeks ago. Today I had time to make his aquaintance.

What a softie!
