Ponte della Maestà, Portico di Romagna.

The medieval urban structure of Portico di Romagna consists of three floors: the castle in the upper part, the arcades and palaces in the middle floor and the village in the lowest floor, practically built on the river, where there is the bridge of the Majesty (tradotto dal sito della pro loco di Portico).

When you know the day is ending all too soon

You're just two umbrellas one late afternoon

You never know what you will say

This is your favorite kind of day

It has no walls, the beauty of the rain

Is how it falls, how it falls, how it falls

And there's nothing wrong but there is something more

And sometimes you wonder what you love her for

She says you've known her deepest fears

'Cause she showed you a box of stained-glass tears

It can't be all, the truth about the rain

Is how it falls, how it falls, how it falls

But when she gave you more to find

You let her think she'd lost her mind

And that's all on you

Feeling helpless if she asked for help

Or scared you'd have to change yourself

And you can't deny this room will keep you warm.

You can look out of your window at the storm

But you watch the phone and hope it rings

You'll take her any way she sings

Or how she calls, the beauty of the rain

Is how it falls, how it falls, how it falls

How it falls, how it falls, how it falls

“I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes.

Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You're doing things you've never done before, and more importantly, you're Doing Something.

So that's my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody's ever made before. Don't freeze, don't stop, don't worry that it isn't good enough, or it isn't perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life.

Whatever it is you're scared of doing, Do it.

Make your mistakes, next year and forever.”

― Neil Gaiman

Converted to monochrome.

After yesterday's color-intensive shot, I'm showing something almost monocromes today.

Of course, I can't resist playing around a little, even on vacation. And if you're standing on a beach with big rocks, what could be more obvious than experimenting with a long exposure.

After trying different filters and exposure times, I finally decided on this variant.

Incidentally, what I remember most intensely from that afternoon is not what I saw there, but what I heard. When a wave, having swept the shore, receded into the sea, it set the rocks in motion. Suddenly, across the width of the wave, you could hear them beginning to roll into the sea. An indescribable sound that took me a while to really identify.

Not with a bang but with a single gasp

When a woman holding out against

plague, violence, and the undead billionaires

Looks out of the window finally

Witnessing a memory she once had

of an outdoor concert

and a musician

Playing a song she knew by heart.

And, as she exhaled, the leftover air was filled

With too much longing and had no room for oxygen

Let’s face it…those cans of food, bottled water, and

partially frozen pizzas

Couldn’t last too much longer anyway.

This is the way the world ends.

Not with an explosion but with a longing.
