And now I can tackle another project I had my eye on ... A paracord Bolas 😁
(*And I could use some of the red or yellow balls as bullwhip pommel weights if I wrapped them in the same paracord monkeyfist knot used for the bolas 😉👍)
I'm trying out some different purse shapes and sizes and making some pieces that are a bit more 'me' for a change.
Its good to have some spare stock made up in case I get more enquiries.
This purse is about 29cm long and 15cm high, hand embroidered silk, leather back and printed hemp lining.
I've been playing with knots too and this is my first Money Fist (see top left of purse)...I need to practice more!
I wanted some knots on this new series of bags to reference the whole atmosphere of sailing ships and slow travel....slow sewing!
I'm trying out some different purse shapes and sizes and making some pieces that are a bit more 'me' for a change.

Tied at end of rope to serve as a weight - making it easier to throw; named because it resembled the hand of a monkey while it was gripping "booty" it wanted no one stealing!
Dirigo II is a 72' Gaff Rigged Tops’l Alden Schooner. The boat is vintage 1939, having circled the world and lived on both U.S. coasts over the years. She is 60' on deck with a beam of 15' 8" and a draft of 8'. 80,000 lbs (lead ballast of 27,000 lbs.).
She now sails in Washington state.

A monkey's fist is a traditional way for sailors to throw a rope. A rope is tied around a rock or weight to create the monkey fist. This is then attached to the end of a rope and thrown to shore when securing a vessel. This monkey fist was seen at the boat haul-up in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia

This was taken on my front porch in the lovely Spring day, a few days ago! Picture taken for the purpose of showing the variety of colors our clients can ask for in making their custom monkey fists and paracord bracelets.
