El Ayuntamiento de San Martín de la Vega ha tomado la iniciativa de impartir nuevos cursos de monitor de tiempo libre en el municipio. Para empezar con las clases, es necesario un total de 20 inscripciones, de lo contrario, se suspenderá y se procederá a la devolución del importe de los inscritos. El curso constará de una parte teórica y otra parte práctica, las cuales se deberán superar para obtener el título de monitor de tiempo libre, homologado por la Comunidad de Madrid.

The Asian water monitor is semiaquatic and opportunistic; it inhabits a variety of natural habitats though predominantly resides in primary forests and mangrove swamps. It has been noted that it is not deterred from living in areas near human civilization. In fact, it has been known to adapt and thrive in agricultural areas as well as cities with canal systems, such as in Sri Lanka, where they are not hunted or persecuted. Habitats that are considered to be most important are mangrove vegetation, swamps, wetlands, and elevations below 1,000 m (3,300 ft). It does not thrive in habitats with extensive loss of natural vegetation and aquatic resources.

Monitoring the shoreline retreat rate is important for coastal management. Remote Sensing is an essential tool for monitoring shoreline displacements along with ground truth data. The study of the reflectance properties and spectral signatures of various samples of both dry and wet sands from the beaches can reveal changes occurring in the shorelines. Different kinds of sand have dissimilar optical properties and spectral signatures. Spectral indices like Brightness Index, Slope index, Hue Index, Modified Red Index, can differentiate dry and wet sand samples such as dry sand has high BI & SI whereas increased water content lessens it. Hence, the continuous increase in reflectance values can clearly depict the transition zone from location of wet sand to the point from where dry shore face begins.
