This build started as me trying out a brick wall technique (the building in the left), and it just sorta grew from there. I wanted to make it a combination of ancient architecture, and a futuristic city, that is now in ruins because of conflict. Lemme know what you think in the comments, thanks!

My GI Brick Photographer Contest entry. Hope you like it. Feedback is always appreciated ;-)

Was browsing the world wide web and came across this amazing artist on devinart. He or She mixes clone and storm troopers with modern day equipment and it looks absolutely amazing. so I decided to give it a go in Lego with electric tape.

Oh oops forgot my huey

The completed model. The M5 Gremlin MULE is used by the LS Army as an escort for infantry and convoys, as well as an automated resupply cargo carrier in high-risk environments

The design is a mashup of the real-life XM1219 ARV-Assault-Light and the cancelled XM1217 Transport. As such, it can carry up to one tonne of cargo in the lower compartment.

The turret is equipped with one M2 Browning .50 cal. HMG, four TOW Anti-Tank rockets and a pair of quadruple smoke grenade launchers.

Sensor packages include three video cameras with FLIR/Night Vision capability (two for driving and one for turret weapons targeting), two laser scanner arrays for obstacle avoidance (beneath front cameras) and a ground radar package atop the turret camera.

Six articulated wheel arms powered by 3-phase electric motors allow the MULE to traverse over shallow steps, ditches, rubble mounds and other off-road environments.

RU forces have taken Vienna and are progressing to Sankt Pölten. The defensive command posts and line have been moved up by 50 miles. Another 1.5 million UAF forces have entered Europe. Including 1million more RU forces heading to Austria. RU special forces unit Acro has taken Liezen. And is now holding the town for the main military unit. Bombers have destroyed most of the NHE artillery defensive line, making the way for more supplies and vehicles.

2 Million RU soldier have moved in to the defense of Saudi Arabia.

This makes 5 RU faction

"wow!"

RU are evacuating Wounded soldiers and wounded citizens to Slovakia for health treatment. Non heart citizens are also be evacuated from Austrian town under fire. Another half a million RU soldiers have arrived in Vienna to back up the defensive line. NHE forces are holding 1 to 2 miles away from the RU defensive line and have sent 2 attacks which retreated after only a few hours of fighting. It is unclear what they have planned but RU is taking no chances. UAF engineers have begun building AA emplacements. New artillery arrived on trains also. RU has sent 1 million soldiers from the defense of Saudi Arabia to the defence of Egypt. They will be under the command of the same Mongolian generals that fended off the invasion of Saudi Arabia. 1 Million more RU citizens have been drafted to military service. Making the total inactive soldiers around 6 million.

NHE have begun there counter attack but RU forces are holding as the defensive line as been reinforced RU has drafted another 3.5 million soldiers from Iran, Oman, and Yemen. RU forces have entered Egypt and have been sent to reinforce Kievan lines.

I made some significant progress on the kc-10 (i dont know if i told you guys what it is, but its a kc-10 extender). I'm going to have to make a few orders to finish it though because I have no where near enough slopes. Anyway, let me know what you guys think.

It's been a long time of collecting them all, and it's crazy to me that I have this many (granted that 60 or so of them are all of my civil war figs, but still) but here they all are in all of their glory! I didn't give them all accessories because that would've taken ages.

Following on from this, I've added the top camo area. I love cheese slopes :)

Three things remain to be resolved.

1) I'm trying to figure out how to do the HMG/Four TOW missile turret, similar to the the XM1219. Dave Luna's prototype looks like a good starting point, although I think the smoke grenade launchers were a bit much. I dig the little sensor ball, though.

2) I'd like to do something at the front, possible a forward sensor pod. I'm tempted to hang an inverted helmet from Chandler's rendition of the FRC Grunt, and use a trans-clear round tile instead of trans-red. However, this might result in a series of jokes regarding FRC heads - is this idea too hokey?

3) Most importantly, the wheel arms. Chandler and Mike have some uncertainly regarding the ability of my present design (above) to support the combined mass of the vehicle and any internal cargo. I've included an exploded version of the current wheel arm design for your reference, boys.

It's very important that the wheel arms are posable as I imagine the MULE climbing up shallow outdoor steps in support of friendly infantry.

Comments and ideas welcome as usual.

Well, here is my first attempt at a modern combat fig. Please tell me what you think. C &C are welcome.

Reasonably major update.

Chassis has been completely rebuilt from scratch - dismounts now sit on the floor with backpacks removed. Overall build has lowered significantly.

Added return rollers as per Nathan's request.

Devised a new seat design based on legovaughan's as reference, sloped back enough for ground combat vehicle crews wearing helmets and full body armor to fit into the cramped interior.

Although max capacity is six, Platoon Leaders will typically put four plus backpacks and other gear in each of their two IFVs.

Decked out main and gunner consoles. Still need to design some tile stickers/decals, but where possible I've simply reused the common set found in most LS Army ground vehicles.

Squad Leaders, please sit tight - you will be building Jackal APCs instead.

Previous update

I've retained the original wheel arm design as per Tim's thoughts. There isn't enough room to fit a lightsabre blade inside the arm, but as Jacob has demonstrated, they should be strong enough as-is.

I just now need to finish off the turret and think about how to dress up the front.

Roughly a month on, yet another update - the Coyote is inching along...

I have finally figured out the secret to the Brickmania-style tracked suspension: odd axle lengths. As such, I have been able to determine the precise positioning of the roadwheels without any awkward connections.

The build footprint has also become narrower, from 16 to 12 studs, less walking around the back for the figs :)

I was forced to ditch my original idea of interchangeable passenger trays, but this means I can shave off one plate of height. I've already begun building up the rest of the chassis, with those custom vest/backpack combos sitting just over a whole bunch of 2 x 3 plates, under which are the Technic chain links used for the tracks.

Ignore those floating brackets - I'm still figuring out how to do side skirts.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is a group shot of the rebels. Finally I can make some scenes that have action and fighting. As war goes on they will become more advanced but for now they are like this riding in pickup trucks.

Following on from this, I've added the hood and the wheels.

The standard version will not come with the doors seen here, but instructions for them are provided as part of an optional "Up-armor" kit.

I've also thrown in a couple of placeholder ACF minifigs to check seating, as well as the clearance of the (again optional) Police Light bars. They *just* clear the helmets on the minifigs.

TODO:

- Flip-open hood

- Custom 2x1 tile decal for the engine compartment

- Wheels

- Mini-instructions for tablescrap M2 Browning .50 cal., M134D Minigun, Mk19 GMG and BGM-71 TOW missile launchers.

- Optional armored doors

- Optional light fixtures and decals for Military Police variant

Between university lectures, I've managed to squeeze in some time to get most of the Panther model digitised in LDraw.

Note that the three decals for the dash instrumentation have already been incorporated successfully into the model without any hassle.

Some Modern Combat Soldiers...

Just testing the camo on the weapon. Tell me is it good or bad :)

The Vector F1500 is a futuristic and advanced version of the actual modern day KRISS Vector. It is named after its impressive 1500 rounds per minute. Its special firing system allows the gun to have less recoil when shot, this enables the gun to have great accuracy and at the same time a high rate if fire. The gun features foldable iron sights, retractable stock with seven positions, select fire and a magazine with 28 rounds. The Vector F1500 can have multiple attachments such as a grip, flashlight with laser sight and a holographic sight. The Vector F1500 is the best SMG at CQC combat scenarios.

One of the less known Brickarms pieces the Voight-Kampff machine is from the book/movie Blade Runner(Also known as "Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep?"):

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voight-Kampff_machine

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blade_Runner

It has limited uses on its own but it fits nicely into TLG's briefcase and could be used as a multitude of other machines (such as the dream machine from Inception).

Fresh from finishing off Aleks' M3 Panther, next up is Alpha Company's rendition of the US Army XM1219 ARV.

The design combines the 1219's weapons turret with the (cancelled) 1217's cargo carrying capacity.

I'm up for some suggestions on how to do the upper half of the build, using the LS Army Woodland scheme of Dark Green, Reddish Brown and Dark Bley.

The Heavy Assault Carbine, The Fan Choice item of 2010, is every bit deserving of that honor. It is incredibly versatile, fitting into modern and near future Sci-Fi genres perfectly and has alot of points of grippability.

Another one of the tabbed items, the Sci-Fi ammo box is based off of the one found on the gun that the spartan Jorge (from Halo Reach) uses it is very versatile and can be used for most genres.

Test render of Alek's M3 Panther in LDView (Left) and POV-Ray (Right).

Tim "gambort" Gould's flex tube library was used for the barrel of the M2 Browning HMG. For some reason, LDView and MLCad tells me my positioning is okay, but POV-Ray disagrees.

Perhaps an issue with the POV-Ray statements in the flex tube part definitions file, Tim?

Addendum Issue since resolved - see Tim's comments below.

Here is what I got at Brickfair. When you are rushing to get these things, you don't know what you are grabbing and don't realize that you already have some of the same items. ;)

Today I am doing a review on the Minifigs4u Sci-Fi Legs. I got these on a custom minifig at BrickFair so I do not know the retail price. First off thes legs can be easily used for modern combat along with Sci-Fi. Here the pros and cns

-----------------------------------------------------

Pros:

Can be used for Sci-Fi and Moderncombat

The detail on this is simple but it works out really well

Can complete any special ops figure

Cons:

The pringting is grainy. From pictures it only looks like the black pants are like this so tell me in the comments if you have a different coolor and how it looks

-----------------------------------------------------

Hope you guys enjoyed and please give me fedback if you are enjoying my reviews and how to improove :)

The heavy laser cannon is he only Sci-Fi rocket launcher out there (for now, go comment on the PLX portable missile launcher thread naow!) and fills the void perfectly. Another cool thing about the HLC is the slot in the side which allows for tabbed accessories to be inserted into it to make for more variations.

I found these images by simply searching Google for 'Jeep J8' and 'Jeep JT'; if you are interested in more details about this vehicle I recommend you do the same.

Every militards... umm military buffs dream, the Panzerfaust. This proto is pretty versatile when it comes to usage and can be held all along "stick" part. The only way to hold it over te shoulder is using a Mono-pod, drawback? Maybe, but since monopods are so useful anyways many of you will have one or two lying around to use.

Ah, the tactical sword (also known as the tac sword). This is one of my favorite BA protos, it fits into almost every theme and the crazy colors that they pop up in are amazing. One problem that might arise with tough play is the blade snapping, since it is more rigid than TLG's blade weapons. I have yet to have this happen to me though (Cause I hardly "play" with my legos..)

This is my first figbarf. Some of the figures are being used for a contest.

One of the "Tabbed" items the View Finder fits into most slots on the BA linup and also fits well into almost any genre. It can be held either by the scope or by flat section by the tab.
