My girl posing during our mock location shoot while we get our new PhaseOne camera and Profoto lighting rig dialed in

Growing by the kitchen door, and it scents the air with a wonderful aroma!

To all the anxious Wanderers, Little Ditzies will be introducing a lovely mingling of earth toned and nature inspired gnomes! Three uniquely hand dyed gnomes in shades of warm exotic wood tones and cool counterpoise of deep charcoals, grays and watery teals give this collection a distinct touch!

{Mocking Jay}

Dark and enigmatic, this particular gnome hat is brooding with mystery! Tones of warm dark brown cascade down the chin strap and it is appropriately adorned with a poetic mocking bird button.

Listening for a challange.

I'm always a bit curious to know if life size scale works as well - knowing it to be easier than making patterns small sizes - so I modeled a quick mock-up. And yes, my worries are gone.

Wouldn't have want to continue with making up patterns on the shift front to back and have to start all over again ;-)

I went to a gay and lesbian unity festival on Sunday. I thought it would be interesting enough of a photo opportunity. Unfortunately it was rather tame with very few things to see or be interested in, aside from loads of people just wandering around enjoying the nice weather.

However, there was one sideshow attraction. A group of Christians with bullhorns and picket signs shunning all the "sinners".

Mind you, I sit on the fence with all of these "issues". I could really care less what anyone chooses to do or believe, so long as they don't try and force upon other people what they do or believe. Unfortunately, it seems that with arguments like these it happens often.

It was a rather immature display from both sides.

The group of Christians approached the situation by claiming such things as, had the gay and lesbians been coddled by their parents and preached to more as children they would have "turned out better". Trying to convince the crowd that homosexual relations could kill them. Their words were ridiculous and weak. But nevertheless they presented their case and spoke their mind as they supposedly have the right to do, with a rather large police presence in case things got out of hand.

The crowd was just as ridiculous and weak with their arguments and words. As they gathered around the group of Christians with a buffer of police between them, it seemed that their tactics were to try to be as shocking as possible by shouting such things as penis, cock, and anal sex among a myriad of other things. Occasionally someone would step forward to argue as the person with the bullhorn would take questions.

It felt like a fun game for both sides more than it seemed like a heated confrontation between two completely opposite opinions. Even the bullhorn seemed tame and muted.

As all of this was going on, the person in the photo walked up, and started chanting, "God loves me, God loves you!" and got on his knees in front of the line of police as close as he could get to the Christians and stared screaming the daily prayer mockingly. "Or father who art in heaven......"

I found the message of the patch on his bag to be quite ironic, as he was being exactly that. Shortly after his prayer, some police had some words with him and he seemed quite apologetic.

I think it was a perfect demonstration of how immature and ridiculous all of it was.

Again, I sit on the fence. I could honestly care less about it all. I just take pictures.

Hieronymus Bosch (ca 1450-1516), Christ mocked, ca 1495-1500, oil on oak, 74 x 59 cm.

Doornenkroning van Christus.

October 3, 2012, Canon 7D.

The painting portrays four sadistic tormentors encircling the white-robed Christ, at a moment just before the actual torture is going to happen. The soldier bearing a turban pierced by an arrow holds a crown of thorns above Christ’s head. At the right, the second tormentor bearing a collar with spikes presses his hand on Christ’s right shoulder. At the right below, both hands of the third figure tugs at Christ’s robe, while at the opposite site, the hand of the fourth tormentor with a pointed goatee beard shamelessly touches Christ’s knee. But Christ, resigned, ignores the pressing, threatening actions of these villains and looks gently at us, witnesses of his torments.

This is one of the images that I have decided not to include in my final body of work but it has been shot and edited to the same standard as the photographs that will be included in the final body of work. For this photo, as well as many others, I have made slight adjustments to the brightness and colours but the main thing is that the temperature of the images has been altered to look warmer as there are other photos that will have the opposite done to them to look cold and uncomfortable.
