CPKC's own MMX, the Mexico Midwest Express, rolls over the KCT diamond at KCS Crossing on the CPKC Pittsburg Sub following a quick crew change at Air Line JCT. Officially, this is CPKC train I180, and today, it's led by a pair of KCSM GE's, one of which is a former TFM unit still wearing battleship gray. 10/5/25.

The Class Unit of KCS's Tier 4 ES44AC's brings CPKC 180, the 'Midwest Mexico Express', westward through the Houston Amtrak Station. While this is technically an intermodal train, CPKC has been filling-in manifest traffic on the head-end of 180 in 2025. The stacks that make up the majority of the train can be seen at the end of the platform, in the distance.

The hottest train on the UP through Houston these days isn't even a UP train. It's CPKC's Midwest Mexico Express, running an expedited schedule from Mexico up to Chicago. It's impressive to see how much priority even UP's dispatchers give this train; must be some strong (and expensive) agreements between CPKC and UP to run this train on time.
Case in point: Amtrak was held for over an hour waiting for this train to clear before TD2 let Amtrak use this connector track at Tower 26 to get to the Houston depot.

This is a last-minute contribution to a little exhibition at the Bologna book fair in Italy next week. It´s about monsters and beasts of any kind. I didn´t have much time left so I decided to rework my old "Hounds" piece into this. I like the slightly asian feel it´s got now.
