Pomena is a small fishing village in the far west of Mljet Island.

It has only around 50 inhabitants, but has reliable ferry connections to the mainland and the surrounding islands.

The village is captivating due to its proximity to Mljet National Park, with its wonderfully clear inland lakes Veliko and Malo Jezero, two salt lakes reached through shady, fragrant Aleppo pine forests.

Pomena has a surprisingly wide range of restaurants, shops, and private accommodations.

Nevertheless, the village has lost little of its relaxed and authentic fishing village feel.

Pomena/Insel Mljet

Pomena ist ein kleines Fischerdorf im äußersten Westen der Insel Mljet.

Nur rund 50 Einwohner zählt der Ort, hat aber zuverlässige Fährverbindungen zum Festland und den umliegenden Inseln.

Der Ort besticht durch seine Nähe zum Nationalpark Mljet mit den herrlich klaren Binnenseen Veliko und Malo Jezero, zwei Salzseen, die man durch schattige, würzig duftenden Aleppokiefernwälder erreicht.

Pomena hat ein erstaunlich großes Angebot an Restaurants, Shops und Privatunterkünften.

Dennoch hat der Ort wenig von seiner Entspanntheit und Authentizität als Fischerdorf eingebüßt.
