This was one of those moments where the storm had passed by and the landscape became flooded with sunlight. I was actually caught between two locations but I knew that this was an opportunity that was too good to miss, so I pulled over in my car and tried to make a composition on the edge of this field. This is a familiar location to me - just to the south of Derby - and I was able to use the dormant cooling towers of Willington Power Station on the left hand side to add a sense of scale to the whole scene.
These Icelandic horses were tough, out in all sorts of conditions. We drove around a corner one day to see this character just standing there looking out over the misty valley. I thought it captured their magnificence in a beautiful way.

Dragonflies are attracted to this wire fence as it is in the sun and gets hot!
When no matter how hard you try...you cannot get a clean shot, I liked the scene anyway! An expected location that offered more than most on this particular outing.
'A step to the left would be more balanced' you say...I reply, 'Half an inch to the left and I'd be drowning.'
