I was waiting to cross the road when Burt spoke to me. He made a comment about the 4 transit cops across the road just coming out of the coffee shop. With coffee and donuts in hand Burt said "somethings never change and was just the same back home in the the US". I asked him if he was just passing through; "yes" he replied "for the last 20 years" and he laughed. "Maybe I should return home some day" he went on to say.

The Dutch Windmill, both the southwest corner and defensive tower of the medieval city fortifications, was built around 1390. It has seven floors with a revolving hood and gallery, as well as a sack elevator. The entire wheel and wooden structure is approximately 300 years old. The sails are now rotated by an electric motor (display installation). The ground floor houses a medieval former dungeon and later sack storage facility, as well as a small museum.

Little known fact (at least it was to me) some wind turbines have a small apartment for overnighting engineers.

Quite a few birds had flown through this moving patch of light showing through the fog and rain… these were the two I managed to photograph against the backdrop of fog...
