Week 40/52 - Theme: Post-Apocalyptic
I took this one in the old dental school of Rennes (France). This building is abandoned and will be destroyed in a few months. However, during the teenage kicks festival (www.teenagekicks.org/) it has been used by graffers and different kind of artists to expose their work.
Weather didn't cooperate this past weekend. It curtailed my effort to capture Saturday's Full Moon.
A storm rolled in during the evening. I tossed on an average Sigma 200mm for image size comparison. Clouds swallowed up the Moon within minutes.

The Minitel, a consumer screen-keyboard terminal, widely distributed in France, was for almost three decades (1980-2012) the only commercial success of the Videotex alpha-numeric standard.
Specified by CNET (the Bell Labs alter ego) and promoted by France-Telecom, it was distributed free of charge to all French homes with a telephone line.
As soon as they were launched, in addition to the electronic directory, many services quickly found their audience, including the famous "pink message services" providing a significant financial windfall to the operators who put them online.
This massive distribution of terminals in homes marked the rise of Telematics (alliance of Telecommunications and Computers) and prepared users for the future development of the Internet.

Le Minitel, terminal écran-clavier grand public largement diffusé en France, a été durant près de trois décennies (1980-2012) le seul succès commercial de la norme alpha-numérique Videotex.
Spécifié par le CNET et promu par France-Telecom, il était distribué gratuitement dans tous les foyers français disposant d’une ligne téléphonique.
Dès sont lancement, outre l’annuaire électronique, de nombreux services trouvèrent rapidement leur public dont les fameuses « messageries roses » procurant une manne financière importante aux opérateurs qui les mettaient en ligne.
Cette diffusion massive de terminaux dans les foyers signait l’essor de la Télématique (alliance des Télécommunications et de l’Informatique) et préparait les utilisateurs au futur développement d’Internet.

Captured using Sony Alpha 6000 (ILCE-6000) with Spiratone 500/8 Minitel mirror lens and Tamron-F AF Tele-converter 2X Pz-AF BBAR MC7 with Fotodiox PK-NEX adapter.
**Much better than I expected given it's a mirror lens on a 2x tele-converter.

The "word processor" was only a rudimentary text editor which required "marking up" all the formatting commands (bold, underline, italic…).

Le "traitement de textes" n'était qu'un éditeur de texte rudimentaire qui obligeait à "baliser" toutes les commandes de mise en forme (gras, souligné, italique…).
L'Apple II est caché derrière le Minitel !

En France, c'est surtout le graffiti politique qui est pourchassé avec sévérité (tiens, c'est étonnant !) et le graffiti à vocation visuelle est d'abord considéré comme une curiosité ; mais dès le milieu des années 1980, la ville de Paris s'équipe de machines à pression pour effacer les graffitis sur les murs et commence, tout comme la RATP, à déposer des plaintes. L'époque est aussi celle d'une débauche d'affichage sauvage à caractère publicitaire (politique, services minitels) et les machines anti-graffiti servent aussi à retirer les affiches. Vers 1987, les métros parisiens sont même couverts de tags et la population se lasse nettement, ce qui conduit à un durcissement judiciaire (y compris dans les lieux qui traditionnellement ne posaient pas de problèmes comme les entrepôts désaffectés). Vers 1990, la RATP est parvenue à marginaliser le tag dans le métro, sinon à l'éradiquer, le rendant au passage plus propre qu'il n'avait jamais été. Une évolution comparable a été observée dans d'autres capitales d'Europe touchées par le phénomène. Aujourd'hui, de nombreuses villes françaises d'importance moyenne ont investi dans des machines anti-graffiti, ce qui représente un coût non négligeable. Les sociétés de transport, particulièrement visées, y consacrent aussi une partie de leur budget ; la SNCF chiffre par exemple le coût du nettoyage des graffitis de ses trains à 5 millions d'euros par an. En 2001, le gouvernement estime le coût du nettoyage et la prévention des graffitis à plusieurs dizaines de millions d'euros par an.
