The first surfy thing I saw in France. A stereotype to be sure. The next French surfer I met wasn't wearing a speedo and was an incredible logger.

5' 11" Mini Simmons hollow wood surfboard. You can make your own using our book and blueprints. Easy to build rail construction as much fun to build as they are to ride. See more at TimelessSurfCompany.com
Finished this on the weekend all ready to paint, but I wanted to share it now. Dodgey photograph - not sure how the hills hoist is out of focus.
It kinda reminds me of the view and path leading down through the dunes from my grandparents' house.
I have also had the hairbrain idea of making a mini simmons... Anyone ever made one? Do you ride one? Would love to chat to you about how they go, what dimensions you ride. My dad used to shape boards way back when and I think it would be a wicked father/daughter project.

As with all my boards, the core is made from found/re-used materials. It's 3# EPS foam from packing material, the stringer comes from an old bookshelf. The deck has a pretty radical S, thin tail, concave on the bottom and 50/50 rails (fairly thin, just short of bladed). Glassed with Resin Research Epoxy, 2 x 6oz s-glass on the bottom, 2 x 6oz + 6 oz patch on top.
A long paddle out to this famous spot. The paddle is more worth it on the big days (like yesterday and the day before).
