This guy had just taken a pigeon down in my back yard...There were feathers all over my decking...I went out with my camera thinking he would just fly off and I wouldn't get a shot...I was wrong...Very wrong...He just glared at me as if to say " Back off buster...This is Mine " He carried on eating his well earned dinner and then flew off with the remains of the carcass....

I have shown the beautiful more gentle side of yellowstone earlier but this shows the harsh side of it. The circle of life.
We found this coyote with a downed Elk. There were three coyotes but I never got a photo of them together. It was raining on and off the whole time we were photographing them. Eagles were circling but never landed. It was freezing but I couldn't leave. Sat there for 3hrs.
FYI this was taken from a legal distance. It was taken with a 500mm lens and is cropped. Someone turned us in to the ranger saying we were photographing Wolf and we were to close. He came and talked to us and found out it was coyote. Told us we knew what we were doing and were fine, to have fun.

The long exposure reminded me of an ermine stole around the Crown Mine Buildings at Botallack, hence the cryptic title.
You have to try and contemplate what life was like for those hardy Cornish Miners who braved the conditions here on the rugged Atlantic Coast. Life was tough as they tunnelled away underneath the seabed to extract the rock some 400 metres below the seabed!
As you can see the conditions were quite conducive to an LE, once I found a place where I could shelter from the gusty winds. It was unusual that the wind was actually blowing out to sea, which made the cliff edge and the narrow traverse out to this spot quite precarious. I had visions of the tripod and camera disappearing over the edge.

Enough food for all the prairie dogs, but still they want the same piece........
Er is genoeg voor iedereen, maar ze willen toch allebei dit stukje hebben.

The eagle finally made its way over and had a few good bites till another eagle came along and he flew away.
People have asked me about the deer. All deer are ones hit by cars around town and they get dropped off by a crew or the farmer goes and sometimes gets them. He puts them way out in a field far away from the road where the eagles are not apt to get HIT by a car when feeding on the deer by the side of the road.
Probably not the best place for an osprey to enjoy a meal. People were constantly beach walking by this bird and it was being pestered by a hungry crow. The crow got so bold as to pull on the osprey's tail feathers! Seeking a bit more solitude, the osprey decided to pick up its catch and look for a more secluded spot to enjoy its dinner. Too funny!
Thanks so much to everyone who takes the time to view, fave or comment on my photos!

Seagulls really do love chips. On the beach a Whitianga after a dinner of fish and chips we gave some leftovers to some eager wildlife.
I wish I could claim all the credit for this but the camera was doing all the hard work!
