Annie Leibovitz Inspiration: allwomenstalk.com/wp-content/thumbs/41/066.jpg

Granted, I didn't really replicate the photo at all, but I tried to use that stunning Leibovitz lighting technique. The example photo was just one that shows that style.

This is influenced by Shimrit Abraham because I used a scarf to cover my face using the cropping technique to focus on my eyes.

Got all A's on senior midterms, so my old man bought me a Remington 870 express with 28" takedown barrel and synthetic stock. I'm stoked!

I have tons of studying, so a creative, awesome picture that I will love forever and ever is out of the question. So is being completely visible.

Senate midterm election results as relevant to the student body of Whitman College. Created for the school publication The Pioneer.

This is my midterm presentation for a better big box. please comment, give me feedback!

The midterm elections are upon us, and America is about to get a real lesson in "be careful what you wish for."

“Fiscal conservatives” who want to add massively to the Federal debt… Cons who chant the mantra of “small government” who want Uncle Sam to intervene and force a woman to bear her rapist’s child… billionaires using their own personal fortunes to turn the election of our so-called representatives into an auction for the highest bidder.

These are the flying monkeys swarming the American body politic to roll back the social progress of the last century and turn the government of the United States into an appendage of the affairs of billionaires.

I understand that most Americans are too overworked, disillusioned or disinterested to follow politics the way some of us do, but before some of you pull the lever for a Republican ... please take a little trip down memory lane and recall that since the time they sold themselves out to the Railroads in the Gilded Age (another time of "Republican Ideas") the GOP have not gotten out of bed in the morning unless they can make sure some bankster can ride the people to the bank unfettered by "pesky" government.

So that stench you smell as you enter the voting booth is the rotting corpse of the late, great, America Middle Class who Republicans who have systematically turned into Serfs.

The government stinks. Republicans have handed it over without apology to transnational corporations who operate solely in the name of profit - not country or community. But then again... they tell us that operating in the name of country or community would be some dirty Commie plot... so country and community be damned! See how that works?

I have some Republican friends who have had their “Road to Damascus” conversion after THEY lose their jobs and realize they can't just pull themselves up by their bootstraps and marry a beer heiress or have daddy buy them a baseball team. Now they cry about the Republican obstruction to their unemployment benefits and are grateful for the lifelines keeping them off the street. If Republicans get their boney fingers around the neck of government, they will squeeze the life out of her.

The photographer I chose to research is Adhemas Batista because I really like the digital color style he uses. One of the reasons why I enjoy his work is that he is self-taught. His creative style all started when he was only fifteen years old. He taught himself how to manipulate the photos in the way that made him famous. His developed skills are known all around the world, with using illustrations, interactives, photographs, and photo manipulation. Batista has been sought out by some of the world’s biggest brands looking to embrace his unique style including Absolut Vodka, Adobe, Cadbury=, Coca-Cola, General Motors, Havaianas, Honda, Microsoft, Nestlé, NBC Network, Nike, Nissan, Nokia, Nordstrom, Pepsi, Puma, Purina, Sony, Toyota, Tylenol, Unicef, Unilever, Volkswagen, Zune and many more.

Adhemas Batista’s style to photography is making everything cartoon like or half cartoon and half picture style. His amazing work reminds me greatly of the Disney Classic “Bedknobs and Broomsticks,” with the mix of fiction to reality. He also likes to add many designs close together and mostly everything overlaps and connects. His designs are very colorful and very intricate with many little details.

His style is very unique and very detailed; I believe that some of his projects that I have seen would have had to have taken a long time to complete using Photoshop. I have not figured out how quite he creates all his amazing swirl designs, and how smooth they all blend together. He is very talented at what he does, because not many Artists are willing to try this intricate style of work. I was very impressed by his style being so unique and different from everyone else, which is why I chose him to research to find more about how his talent started. I hope that someday I will be able to figure how his style is created.

[10/07/2011] It's midterms. My day was very long and filled with scary Microeconomic Theoryness. I ended the day by locking myself in my house, trying to knock away at homework and eating popcorn for dinner. Probably a stupid idea.

In unrelated news, I finally learned how to sing loudly in middle voice today. Something just clicked. It was exciting.

Another (!) incarnation of the famous Black Bean Brownies, these ones with a silken tofu binder, tons of cocoa and of course the beans, topped with not "tree" nuts but roasted soybeans for crunch!
