A mí me recomendó sonreir : )
A statue of Nezahualcóyotl in Chapultepec Park. The statue is part of a fountain and monument to him. The work is by Mexican Sculptor Ortiz Monasterio and was completed in 1956.
Nezahualcóyotl was the monarch of the city-state of Texcoco in ancient Mexico from 1429 to 1472.
Nezahualcóyotl was known as a great poet in addition to a fantastic scholar and wonderful architect.
Nezahualcóyotl's name means the “fasting coyote,” as fasting was considered a form of sacrifice. Some monarchs would do to attempt to appease the gods and aid their people.
If you check an old Mexican 100 peso note you can see his face.
We visited Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil (MACG) in Colonia San Angel.
2 of 2.
This piece, Untitled acordeón moto (Accordion Motorcycle) is a mixed art work by Venezuelan artist Carlos Zerpa made in year 2000.
The MACG functions as an experimental research hub for young, emerging artists. It serves as a prominent space for new media, installation art, photography, and contemporary performances.
The museum was established in 1974 by Dr. Álvar Carrillo Gil, a Yucatecan entrepreneur, and his wife, Carmen, who donated their massive private collection to the Mexican federal government.
The museum holds the most extensive public collection of works by José Clemente Orozco, featuring over 150 pieces. It also houses significant collections by the other major Mexican muralists: David Alfaro Siqueiros and Diego Rivera.
Jardin de la Paz in Nonoalco -Tlatelolco Housing Project hosts the Monumento por la Paz. The monument was installed in 1991 by IPPNW - International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War.
The sculpture was created for Medicos Mexicanos para la Prevencion de las Guerra Nuclear, a chapter of IPPNW.
IPPNW was an inspiration born of the Cold War in 1980.
The doctors sounded a medical warning to humanity that nuclear war would be the final epidemic.
There would be no cure and no meaningful medical response.
Their message reached millions of people around the world. In the words of former New Zealand Prime Minister David Lange, “IPPNW made medical reality a part of political reality.”
So Mr. Putin, put your nuclear sabre rattling away you idiot.
