MEXICO, Mayastätte Palenque
Palenque ist eine von Tieflanddschungel umgebene archäologische Fundstätte im mexikanischen Bundesstaat Chiapas unweit der modernen Stadt Palenque. In der archäologischen Zone von Palenque befinden sich die Ruinen einer ehemaligen Mayametropole, die seit 1987 zum UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe gehören. Das in der Nähe der Grabungsstätte wohnende Volk der Lacandonen wird als direkter Nachkomme der ehemaligen Bewohner des alten Palenque betrachtet. Am 30. März 2015 wurde die Gedenkstätte in das Internationale Register für Kulturgut unter Sonderschutz der Haager Konvention zum Schutz von Kulturgut bei bewaffneten Konflikten aufgenommen

Mexican firebush, also called hummingbird plant, is a tropical shrub native in tropical climes around the Gulf of Mexico. My bush is thriving now and is already ready for the arrival of the Hummingbirds as they stop to feed before starting their 500 mile non-stop journey across the Gulf of Mexico.
is an evergreen shrub, native to Mexico, and also naturalized in Florida. The flowers are white, extending from red bracts which look somewhat like shrimps, hence the common name "shrimp flower". The bracts start out white, but with more sun exposure they turn anywhere from pale pink to deep salmon. A chain of bracts will continue to grow until it falls off in most cases; thus the chains can grow anywhere from a few centimetres to nearly 30 cm (1 ft) in length. Blooming continues for months once it has begun, then halts for a short period before starting again. The flowers attract hummingbirds and butterflies. Pollination is usually by hummingbirds.

It is a native of Mexico, the Caribbean, and South America. It has become a widespread invasive plant in Florida, where it was likely introduced as an ornamental before 1933. It is an evergreen perennial growing 3 ft (0.91 m) tall, forming colonies of stalks. Trumpet shaped flowers are metallic blue to purple, could be white or pink.
