This is a redux of this picture

My camera club has a monthly competition night. I don't really try to win - I just submit pictures that have done well on Flickr in the last month. And since most of the successful entries in our club are of birds and animals, I rarely even get close to placing. And some of you know how much I enjoy those subjects. (sarcasm alert)
However I tripped across this shot from 17 years ago and, given that our local judges absolutely LOVE eagles, and they're relatively easy to photograph around here, I thought it was worth a shot. I did a little fiddling to deal with some potential critiques and thought I'd present it to you folks as a redux. Three major problems remain which will be the picture's doom. It will be interesting to see if the judges spot them too.
1. The white "collar" is too bright and will probably be blown out on the monitor we use for the competition.
2. The darkness on the face, while I tried to lighten it, still persists. They won't like that either.
3. The eagle is looking slightly away. The judges will definitely not like that.
But, hey, it's an eagle.

Adult bald eagle flying over the lake. These guys are startled easily and are very quiet, evading my lens much of the time.

I hadn't been out this road in almost a hundred years...Didn't think this old girl was still standing...The motor cops used to hide here when this was a speed trap...
My 4th of July photo... it’s a tradition! I’m running a 5K at the Statue of Liberty tomorrow morning. My friend is picking me up at 3:30 AM. Oh God... WHY am I not sleeping.... ugh... this can’t be good!! 😱.
I hope you all have a glorious 4th!! 🇺🇸

One from last night's shoot at the Pima Air and Space Museum.
I initially had this shot framed to keep the wingtip of another aircraft out of frame on the right, which resulted in just the "ERICA" being visible. Rob Silliman just happened to walk by as I was getting ready to do another exposure and said "Why don't you move right a bit so it'll say 'MERICA?"
Mega-thanks for Rob for helping take this shot to a better place.
Merica means 'pepper' in Indonesian. We called her that because of her grey chest. Her companion had a white chest and was accordingly called Garam (salt).
She is a Gould Amadine.
Sitting around the house today finishing up a few edits and I look out my living room window and see it's starting to snow again.... but the snow flakes falling down were larger than normal so I grabbed my camera and headed outside to capture a couple of quick shots. While I was firing away I noticed all the American flags on our street and thinking our house especially needs one.. 'Merica!
