An adult Herring Gull seems to be shepherding this juvenile (first year of a four year maturation) in a quest for edibles over Lake Champlain. They are common here in the open-water seasons, perhaps not so much so as the ubiquitous Ring-billed Gull. Gulls fly beautifully, with purpose and verve, and especially when the wind is up expressing the freedom of flight in a way that one imagines brings them joy.
Processed in LR, PS with a touch of Topaz and home made texture.

It's been a while since I photographed a heron at Mentor Graphics. Certainly it was nice and quiet the day before Labor Day. The wide spot in the creek was a riot of green - from what a friend tells me regarding another photo I took, the bright green isn't just algae and bubbles but is probably algae and frog eggs. Certainly there were active frogs of different sizes as well as many tadpoles in evidence - possibly the reason for the heron's attendance. I'm currently on a "photo scavenger hunt" - one of the items is "waterfowl" but that technically is ducks'n'geese and summer is not the greatest time for those (non-breeding plumage and not a lot of species around.) Perhaps I will go with "P is for..." Patient predator posing in pointed profile? Oh what the heck sure. It's #64. Also makes great wallpaper (cropped appropriately) for lock screen. ...piscivore too.

Even though I've been working at it for a few years now, I am still very much a novice at wildlife photography, and this is the first image of such I've ever posted, not that I think it's great. Wildlife is the most demanding of photographic pursuits. One needs to spend days, weeks, months, to get an image that speaks.
I hope that someday I may capture one.
This guy was definitely the alpha goat; kept me company on my most recent trip (though may actually be a big nanny -not positive-- didn't check close, you know?) and I felt I owed it to him(or her?).
I only wish I could move as gracefully on rock.

This is for my very good friend and mentor TabaMajic, known better to all of us as Alice. Alice is in Australia, she is currently in a nursing home being treated for the advanced stages of Parkinson’s Disease.
Back when we in Photoshop were using CS2 and CS3 she came up with the idea for Extend the Boundary, which she simply called ETB. The above image anyone can make from the very detailed Tutorial she wrote.
But she didn’t stop there she expanded the boundaries all over the place and she left us with many albums in her website with incredible artistic manipulations. And I like a lot of other experienced Photoshop folks looked at these with little ideas for how they were done. If you would like to see these for yourself they are still available on her site.
Alice is still trying to do things in Photoshop but cannot any longer. She is very artistic and can still draw pictures though.
