After 7 years, we went to visit Abbottabad - the place that inspired me to pick up a camera and explore around. There were times when I couldnt find time to go on adventures, no matter how small they may be. Then the other times, the camera was broken or when the moment was amazing and I wanted to cherish it to the fullest.
I'm nearing the end of my medschool. These days I'm busy at clinical side, seeing and examining patients. I'm at a better headspace. Things have been good and I hope youre having a good time as well.
Sometimes I think, I've lived in the twilight zone - I'm living my reality and fantasy at the same time. I've been able to achieve milestones when I look back and give myself a pat on the back and say to myself that keep moving forward no matter how hard the winds blow, navigating my boat..

It seems strange to upload sunny photos, but hey, Australia's topsy-turvy weather. [TAG] What are you thankful for this past year?
The end of the year is a time when many people take a moment to reflect on the past year.
In your "doll life" what are five things you are thankful for?
I. Meeting such awesome dolly friends in Melbourne, definitely! It's always nice to be able to get to know people behind the photos you admire. It's also interesting in seeing how different cultures affect the atmosphere of a meet ahaha. Meets in Singapore and Melbourne are really different in many ways, but yet there are certain similarities (FOOD).
II. My dolls and photography keeping me sane throughout the school year, as well as giving me courage to go out and explore more on my own. Seriously. If it wasn't for these buggers I wouldn't have gone to half the places I did.
III. MY DOLL CLOTHES BECAUSE SCREW YOU. /flomps in giant pile/
IV. MY BABY WILLIAMS.
V. Erm. I dunno? My parents for their continued patience with this hobby of mine, non-doll friends and classmates who have never said a single bad thing about my creepy dolls and even find them cool, learning to move past unpleasant experiences. I dunno, my doll life pales in comparison to learning how to navigate uni life and medschool and a brand new country all at once, wouldn't you say?
My apartment faces the East. This means I get to see amazing sunrises, but I can't see the sunset from my window. I can, however, see it reflected on other buildings' windows, as you can see in the orange reflections.

The past 2 weeks have been incredibly hectic. I started medschool 3 days after arriving, had to fix a lot of bureaucratic stuff, and right now I'm meeting friends on a daily basis - which is great & amazing, but also means that I'm not getting a lot of time for myself.
Despite the upcoming recession and the very complicated situation Brazil is facing - the president will probably be impeached, unemployment and inflation are rising, violence is getting worse and worse (we had almost 60k murders in the past year...) - I am happy to be here.
I'm feeling so loved, so comfortable... people here are so different, warm and welcome. This matters much more than safety or good public transportation. This is what makes you happy: to feel accepted, to feel connected.
I'm so glad I'm finally home again.
So its been a while since my last post... I started my 2nd year of medschool and it's really cutting into my free time (but i suppose it'll be worth it in the end). So to free my mind of the impending doom that is pathology, I decided to spend the evening diving under the moon. Thats right... I went on a night dive, and I can't think of a better way I could have spent my Friday night!
Spotted this little fella at "1/4 wreck" a dive site off the southwest coast of Grenada. Not 100% sure of the species name but I believe it is Dardanus calidus. But for all us non-marine biology majors, its a hermit crab... with hairy legs!
Hermit crabs are decapod crustaceans of the superfamily Paguroidea. They conceal their asymmetrical bodies in empty gastropod shells for protection, and will change shells as they grow. Unlike "normal" crabs, their bodies are soft and only appear "crab-like" when they are viewed from the front or in their mobile home.
These funny little creatures are nocturnal and are rarely seen during the day.
Lately I have been using some of my photographs to create t-shirts. Most are portraits but I also include some of my landscapes. Leslie is a dear friend who is in med school at Midwestern University so I decided to add a couple of med school photos to my collection. These will be the first with writing. I never had children so never got to have any of those proud parent things. So, I have adopted Leslie as my niece.
(3/365) This is where the magic happens. This is where I spend most of my days and nights of studying and what-not. I think a person's habitat can reveal a lot about them, so I thought I would share mine.

One of my older hobbies that existed prior to my photography hobby are guitars; I started learning how to play the guitar in high school and have been in several bands, but when I entered medschool, I have forgotten about my electric guitars. However, in the past few weeks, the urge to play the guitar again (not just simply my worn out acoustic guitar), doing mad solos like I used to do when I was younger, overpowered me. Thus, I went about reviving my old electric guitars and my other acoustic guitars.
This is Amber, a Gibson Les Paul Slash AFD (2010) edition. This is actually not an old Les Paul of mine, in fact, I just got this a few days ago. I got it off a mutual friend of a formet bandmate and it was sold without any hardware or electronics. And its fretboard was changed, thus I was able to haggle for a good price on what is essentially just the body.
I placed my old humbuckers in, replaced the hardware (actually drilled wider holes so I can use bridges that are metric and not standard, just like what I did on Mai the Gibson Les Paul Custom), and she sings pretty well. Most of the parts I placed on her are not... expensive... but in time I will be adding better hardware and electronics.
Truth be told, I still don't like buying new Gibsons from stores even if I can afford one; they are still too pricey for my liking, even though, like I said, I can afford them if I saved love enough, but you can get good deals on used Gibson guitars if you know the right people and if you know how to fix them if need be. Inb4 someone calls me rich lol
Still got a lot more to repair/revive, but glad to have 3 electric guitars ready to be played.
