ok.you know this.but now it's scanned and without a date ; )

I have been Tagged by Samia. I suppose that means I have to say some stuff about me. Here it goes:

1.I was born in Chittagong, Bangladesh and I spent the first 22 years of my life there.

2.Both of my parents were educators, my father a professor and mother a school teacher.

3.I’m the oldest of three brothers.

4.I have attended St. Placid’s School, Faujderhat Cadet College, Chittagong University, the University of Maine, and Auburn University (Go Tigers…the national champs!!).

5.I’m a professor, but I hate it when people call me “Dr.”, I’m not much for formality.

6.I had a streak going of not wearing a tie for over 3 years, which I finally had to break last year for my cousin’s wedding.

7.I’m a very liberal person and proud of it. I’m pro choice, pro gay marriage, and pro legalization of marijuana.

8.I’m a diehard supporter of free speech rights. I didn’t think the controversial Danish cartoons were particularly good (except for the one about running out of virgins, that was kinda funny!), but I will always defend the right of the cartoonist to create them and the rights of the paper to publish them.

9.I have known my wife since we were both 13 years old. She is Malaysian. We used to be penpals. Then gradually we became best friends. We didn’t think we would ever get married. We used to tell each other everything. So now we don’t have any skeletons in the closet. We know every intimate detail of each others’ exploits!

10.I am not a prolific photographer, nor do I wish I was one. I only shoot when I feel like it. I don’t want to create millions of photos. If I die having a hundred that are outstanding, I would be happy.

11.During the University of Maine years, my best friend was Chloe. She was a feminist, a lesbian, and a part-time stripper at a Boston club…that’s quite a combination! She was the second person to pose nude for me (the first was my dear friend Mary, who is now a big shot wedding photographer). I showed the photographs from that session to a UMaine art professor, who suggested that I should stick with nudes. I have done nudes on and off since then, so I guess I sort of took his advice. But I’m just too restless to stick to just one genre. And oh yeah, Chloe also spoke fluent French and Korean.

12.Judgmental people turn me off completely. I believe everyone has the right to live their life the way they choose, as long as they don’t infringe on anyone else’s rights.

13.Communal behavior among immigrants irritates me.

14.I think I consider myself a rather dull person. Which is why I surround myself with really interesting people.

15.I have a dog called Princess. After my wife, she is my best friend, my companion and every once in a while, my model. She is 10 years old and I simply cannot bear to think of the day when she might not be around.

16.My favorite color is blue.

17.I am very big on printing. I don't think a photograph can be considered excellent unless it can produce a compelling fine-art print. I consider myself a much better printer than a photographer. I do a lot of printing and use an Epson Stylus Pro 3880 and a Stylus Photo 2880 to make my prints.

18.I'm also an occasional collector of archival quality prints. I am, however, highly selective about what I collect. Usually, I tend to purchase works of female photographers, often from the developing world, and sometimes the photographs tend to have a sensual or erotic bend to them. My most recent purchase (not yet complete) is a self-portrait by a Swedish photographer called Mona Ӧhman (www.monartic.se).

19.I am not religious. Most people tend to assume that I am an atheist. I'm actually somewhat spiritual. I do think that there is a supreme creator. I just don't buy what the major religions are selling.

20.I believe women are generally smarter than men, but in most societies they have been conditioned not to show their intelligence.

Do you regret tagging me now, Samia??

Am I supposed to tag someone back? How about Towards Light?

Think I broke my foot on this today... Hope I can do a little self-diagnosis tomorrow when the swelling goes down. An X-ray isn't exactly in my price range.

This is me, I work on the web.

I'm a Ruby developer mainly working with the Rails framework. I'm fortunate to work with some of the best developers/people in the universe and as I'm based in London I get to hang out with many more of them at LRUG

At home I work on Agileista (alpha) and I made MoodMapr as a laugh after being inspired by the amazing people I met at EuRuKo (especially Agata and Marcin of Applicake)

Aside from writing software I have a strong passion for the art of photography, specifically black and white and working with off camera light sources. If I did it all again I'd probably be an architect (the kind that designs buildings)

Many of my friends work in the music industry and I'm considered a member of the Foreign Beggars family. I do what I can to help out at Dented Records which I legally co-founded

Having grown up across three continents in London, Riyadh, Leysin (Switzerland) and Boston whilst also feeling at home in North Cyprus, Dubai and New York, it's the vast network of people in my extended family that make me who I am ("We form like Voltron" as a wise man once said)

I also love music, exercise, football, snowboarding, motorcycles and cars (I love a lot of stuff but I've taken each of these to legal/illegal extremes)

This is who I am, who are you?

In the spirit of the Tell Me the Story theme, this shot just screams for a caption. You tell me what you would put as a caption or title on this shot.

I've seen this idea everywhere and I decided to do my own.

An estimated 1 in 100 American women binges and purges to lose weight.

In the UK, nearly 2 in every 100 secondary school girls suffer from anorexia nervosa,

bulimia nervosa or binge eating disorder.

It is estimated that 200,000 to 300,000 Canadian women aged 13 to 40 have anorexia nervosa and twice as many have bulimia.

Studies suggest that 5 to 10 percent of people with anorexia or bulimia are males.

In a study of children aged 8-10, approximately 50 per cent of girls said they were unhappy with their size.

In a study of girls aged 9-15, more than 50 per cent claimed they exercised to lose weight, nearly 50 per cent claimed they reduced food intake in order to lose weight, and approximately 5 per cent claimed to use their parents' diet pills or laxatives in order to lose weight.

The media needs to stop telling us what their definition of beauty is. kthnx.

January 31st, 2009

I was planning on doing a super awesome something for the Super Bowl. (MY TEAM ONE! HECK YES! GOOOO STEELERS!) Buuuuttt...I went to church (and took pictures of little kids) and went to the service. Then, did some Biology homework, and left for Tony and Genia's. Then, was at the Super Bowl, came home and watched The Office.

It was right before I turned out the lights that I remembered "OH POOP! I forgot a 365!!" And turned on the flash on my camera, didn't even move it from it's spot on my shelf, and SNAP. Here is your picture. Attractive, right?!

Well, this day was a good day. I took my first pictures of the Children's Church kids, but only a couple turned out real good. The others were blurry (thanks to dark rooms. *sigh*) annnnddd...MY TEAM WON THE SUPER BOWL!

YAY!

My favorite commercial was the Doritos one. "Do you think I'll get that promotion?"
