Matthew had his first birthday party, but Yolanda decided this would be the premiere of her new figure, after her surgery.
He was just stepping out and past me when I recognized him from earlier this year, the zamboni driver!
He said business had been steady and he expected it to pick up on the week where school was out for everyone.
He had just changed out a Zamboni blade and was looking forward to a short break before the end of the day.
I shot a surprise proposal for fellow photographer friend Matthew Clark!! (and we met through flickr by the way) this is him and his fiancé posing with some antique cameras : )

The Matthew was a caravel sailed by John Cabot in 1497 from Bristol to North America, presumably Newfoundland. After a voyage which had got no further than Iceland, Cabot left again with only one vessel, the Matthew, a small ship (50 tons), but fast and able. The crew consisted of only 18 people. The Matthew departed either 2 May or 20 May 1497. She sailed to Dursey Head(latitude 51°36N), Ireland, from where she sailed due west, expecting to reach Asia. However, landfall was reached in North America on 24 June 1497. His precise landing-place is a matter of much controversy, with Cape Bonavista or St. John's in Newfoundland the most likely sites.
Cabot went ashore to take possession of the land, and explored the coast for some time, probably departing on 20 July. On the homeward voyage his sailors incorrectly thought they were going too far north, so Cabot sailed a more southerly course, reaching Brittany instead of England. On 6 August he arrived back in Bristol.
To celebrate the 500th anniversary of Cabot's voyage, a replica of the Matthew was built in Bristol by Storms'l Services, a precursor of the Bristol Classic Boat Company. The design was by naval architect Colin Mudie. She was dedicated in a ceremony during the first International Festival of the Sea, held in Bristol's Floating Harbour in 1996. The next year, she reconstructed Cabot's original journey on the 500th anniversary of the landmark voyage. On 24 June 1997 the replica of the Matthew was welcomed into port at Bonavista by Queen Elizabeth II.
The full-size replica is 78' (23.7m) long with a beam of 20'6" (6.3m) with a draft of 7' (2.1m) and 2,360 sq ft (219 m2) of sail.
On 29 February 2012 the Matthew's ownership was transferred to The Matthew of Bristol Trust, and she was relocated to her new home outside Bristol's M Shed museum.
In June 2012 she will take part in the Queen's Diamond Jubilee pageant on the River Thames.[5]

THANK YOU - ON EXPLORE
Stranger Standing in the Sun, Polesden Lacey

Olympus Trip, Ilford XP2 film
I emailed the stranger standing in the sun, with the photo.
He said:
"Beautiful. Thank you so much. You made a hopeless indie musician chewing over a hurtful social media rejection, look valuable. I was very lucky in that moment; to meet you and to have the privilege of your skill and time in taking the image.
The book is on my list of birthday presents, so thank you for the golden thread. Now, it is not all doom and gloom and I attach a link to a video of a sound check completed on Sunday 11 Feb for a live radio slot in Surrey Hills Radio station".
That's why I take photos.

From their web site:
"The Matthew that you see in Bristol today is a modern reconstruction of the original Matthew that John Cabot sailed to Newfoundland in 1497.
The modern Matthew was built between 1994–1996 on Redcliffe Quay for the 1997 voyage to celebrate the 500th anniversary of Cabot’s most famous journey to Newfoundland and back. The ship is now owned by the registered charity, The Matthew of Bristol Trust – all money raised from donations and profits made from public and private trips are used to maintain the ship and its legacy."

Modern reconstruction of the original Matthew that John Cabot sailed to Newfoundland in 1497. Built between 1994 and 1996 on Redcliffe Quay, in May 1997 the modern Matthew set off on its own transatlantic voyage to celebrate the 500th anniversary of Cabot’s famous voyage of exploration to Newfoundland.
The ship today is a much-loved part of Bristol’s maritime heritage with a busy schedule of public and private hire boat trips, school trips, film and festival work, and corporate and celebratory events.

Benni and Matthew from Kentucky met at the beach this week. It was love at first sight since Matthew was missing his black standard poodle back home and Benni was a good substitute.
They played on the beach for a while and Benni and I started to leave when Matthew headed into the water. Benni pulled the leash out of my hand and went to join him. The water was cold but Matthew was determined to swim in the Pacific ocean.
Matthew sent me a request to process his picture. However, he sent me a low resolution. I am still waiting for him to send me the original shot.
While waiting, I decided to do something with the one he sent me and here is what I came up with. Not as good as I want to but I think it's another way of showing our images.
