Retirement party for professors Chaitan Gupta and Harvey Lambert, Mathematics and Statistics Department, University of Nevada, Reno.
n Wednesday, October 29th, the 6th grade math scholars participated in a math investigation using fresh pumpkins. For many, this was the first time they had seen, touched, and smelled the inside of a pumpkin. The scholars worked independently to estimate how many seeds were in the pumpkin, then worked in groups to calculate the exact amount of seeds. The pumpkins, and seeds, were used to make pumpkin soup, pumpkin pie, roasted pumpkin seeds, and fresh pumpkin for use in a taste test. Data and results from both activities were used to make class and independent graphs.

Secret #7: I have nightmares of insane math projects and crazy impossible ideas that could never be completed...but only when I have fevers. It's not cool...I wake up crying, sweating, and fearful of everything around me. Also, I feel as if my tongue had swollen up in the midst of the "dream"...which leaves me wondering how in the world to get rid of that feeling. It's just about one of the most horrible things that happens when I'm sick. Even worse, I'm sick more often than not. Ugh.
