Day 252 ~ Math

Monday was a holiday, Tuesday was the horrid day, Wednesday was early release so I kept Anna home, and Thursday I told Anna that Dr. Kelly wanted her to rest for a full day to see if it would help her headache. I have to be really careful about not rewarding the bad behavior at school with getting to stay home. Anna is savvy enough to figure out that if she breaks her glasses and cries, then she could stay home. Nope. So Thursday morning, I had Anna get dressed like she was going to school and work on some math. She actually enjoyed it and wanted to do several more pages than I had asked her to initially. She still can’t do single digit addition and subtraction in her head but she used tally marks to figure out the answers. I loved how proud she was of her work and that she couldn’t wait to show Nana.

another picture i painted on my computer! i hate math! pretty funny! just kidding lol

Doing a math equation isn't easy when you forgot how to solve them.

Hopefully, I did remember. (I felt like a dumbass during the process).

If this was out when I was in school, I would have actually gotten good grades in math class. Plus I would know if I had supportive friends!

Photos taken for work of the Advanced Math Problem Solving class at Central Academy. The class created a puzzle the was featured in the 100th edition of The Riddler, a column on ESPN's FiveThirtyEight data news site.

Students fear the math syllabus, but the GRE Math section does not test advanced-level math. It includes arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and data analysis taught in High School. See more at : blog.scholarden.com/gre-math-question-types/

Math Fold-ables plus some

Math Mania is an evening of mathematical demonstrations, puzzles and hands-on activities for elementary school children. It’s been designed by members of the University of the Fraser Valley’s Department of Mathematics & Statistics to show children – and their parents – how much fun you can have playing with mathematical concepts.

Math Mania is held in a school gymnasium and lasts about ninety minutes. About 20 volunteers (students and faculty) from UFV run tables with a wide variety of activities. While most of the activities are designed for children from about seven through ten, there is something for children of all ages. The grown-ups have a lot of fun, too! Our volunteers enjoy it so much that they keep coming back for more.
