Covered in small rain drops after a few periods of light drizzle earlier in the afternoon. The cloud has cleared and we now have a little sunshine once more, lighting up the flower. Great!
He has a habit of walking between Cologne and Trier and therefore he got his nickname Pilgrim Mathias.

Iglesia de Matías (Mátyás-templom)
Es una iglesia católica romana construida en el siglo XIV y dedicada a la Virgen María, patrona de Hungría. Debe su nombre al rey húngaro Matías Corvino, quién encargó algunas de las tantas reformas que ha tenido y le dan el carácter a la actual edificación. Ha sido parte fundamental de la historia de la ciudad, puesto que allí fueron coronados varios reyes húngaros. Durante la época de la Hungría Otomana, la iglesia fue transformada en mezquita y permaneció así por casi 150 años. Es una edificación muy linda y colorida, tanto el exterior como el interior, con frescos y vitrales de varios artistas de finales del siglo XIX. El techo está formado por azulejos de colores que contrastan con su fachada blanca.
The Mathias Ham House in Dubuque, Iowa was built in 1857. It is now a museum and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Born in Cluj, Matei Corvin was the second son of the Romanian prince Iancu de Hunedoara, former king of Hungary, and Elisabeta Szilagy. The name “Corvin” derives from his heraldinc bearings displaying a raven (corvus, Latin). Matei Corvin ruled Hungary from 1458, when he became king at the age of 15, to 1490 and was known as a reputed fighter against the Ottomans.
The statue was designed by Janos Fadrusz, whose art work won the Great prize at the 1900 Paris World Exhibition. Unveiled in 1902, it was inaugurated as the statue of “Mathias, King of Hungary”. At the end of the WWII, after Romania's liberation, the name of the statue was changed to “Mathias Rex” (“King Matei Corvin”), as historian Constantin Daicoviciu renamed it.
