Australian white ibis (Threskiornis molucca); a potential mascot for 2032 Brisbane Olympic Games

1938 Ford mascot from the emerald green image uploaded a few days ago. Simple and effective and not as likely to be grabbed and stolen as say Pierce Arrow's Archer. Elegant in it's simplicity, especially against the emerald color.

All of the Art Deco glass sculptures by the French King of Glass, Lalique used as Mascots on the premier cars of the late 20s and the 30s are stunning and magnificent, but to me, this one, known as Chrysis, from about 1931, is the best. Many could be lit at night from some clever lighting/wiring, and switched on/off from the dash.

Rene' Lalique started his house of glass and crystal, in 1888 and passed on in 1945. The business is still flourishing in France today if you feel the need to spend significant money on heirloom glass. A number of the wonderful original mascot designs, are still available as free standing sculptures.

1948 Tucker 'spaceship' mascot. Unique and appropriate with Preston Tucker's visions of a very forward thinking and revolutionary car. A great salesman, he was less successful at organizing the enormous complexities of actually producing a final salable, affordable product that matched his dreams..........one of many over the decades who faced the same formidable challenges, and couldn't quite get it all together.

An old photo as I haven't been taking photos much recently. I really cannot remember the last time the sky was not grey!

Odd art deco mascot, and I have seen it on 2 Delahayes and a Delage over the years. Don't know the maker or 'name' of the mascot but it is very distinctive. I like it but it is probably an acquired taste, and........OK i am more than a little eccentric. You can be very sure your neighbor doesn't have the identical one.

Sorry to all you regulars, I have been without my Mac Book for a couple weeks (admitted to the hospital (Mac, not me) and just released today. Hasn't looked so spiffy in almost 6 years. I find working on Flickr while on my iPhone to be extremely.....EXTREMELY tedious and it is nice to have the old girl back. Successful facelift I think.

Its about time Mirai gets her own website and we will be working on that end of July when I get back from Anime Expo.
