El encanto de Chiloe es innegable. Segun la Travel Leisure la Isla de Chiloe es uno de los lugares del mundo que usted debe conocer el 2016, ya antes Smarter Travel la habia elegido como una de las 10 islas mas remotas y fascinantes del mundo.
Chiloe es un archipielago conformado por mas de de 30 islas donde la Isla Grande es la mayor de todas, situado en la Región de Los Lagos, en el centro-sur de Chile, 90 kms al sur de Puerto Montt. En total posee una superficie de 8.394 kms2 (3,241 mil2) con 250 kms de largo y 82 kms de ancho. Algunos de los mayores encantos de la isla son sus intocados bosques milenarios del tipo Patagonico Siempre Verde, extensas playas virgenes y acantilados rocosos, la vida silvestre especialmente el avistamiento de aves, ballenas azules y pinguinos, bellos campos agricolas sobre sinuosos lomajes, su tradicional arquitectura en madera donde destacan sus Iglesias declaradas Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO y sus “Palafitos”, la navegacion a vela o en kayak por sus apacibles canales y su gastronomia dominada por los mariscos y productos del mar. Nota aparte merece su extraordinaria mitologia de origen Huilliche que domina la cultura local despertando la imaginación con cuentos de brujas, seres fantasticos y barcos fantasmas.
El turismo en la isla ha ido creciendo progresivamente durante los ultimos años pero aun sigue siendo un territorio intocado por el turismo masivo donde muchos de sus paisajes permanecen aun virgenes, de hecho las mitad sur de la isla esta practicamente inhabitada, asi Chiloe se resiste a dejar sus antiguas tradiciones y costumbres.

Chiloe archipelago is composed of over 30 islands where the Big Island is the largest of all located in the Lakes Region in central-southern Chile 90 kms south of Puerto Montt. In total an area of 8,394 km2 (3,241 mil2) with 250 kms long and 82 kms wide. Some of the greatest charms of the island are untouched ancient forests of the Patagonian Evergreen type vast pristine beaches and rocky cliffs wildlife especially bird watching, blue whales and penguins, beautiful farm fields on winding hilly grounds traditional wood architecture hihglights their churches declared World Heritage by UNESCO and its "Palafitos", sailing or kayaking for its peaceful canals and gastronomy dominated by seafood products. Note deserves its mythology extraordinary source Huilliche dominating the local culture awakening the imagination with tales of witches, fantastic beings and ghost ships.
Tourism on the island has grown steadily in recent years but still most of territory remains untouched by mass tourism its landscapes remain pristine in fact the southern half of the island is practically uninhabited, so Chiloe resists leave their ancient traditions and customs
