This painted stainless steel and aluminium, 34,000-pound, 26-foot statue of Marilyn Monroe was captured on Chicago's "Magnificent Mile" ... Although the sculpture has attracted innumerable visitors, the statue was panned by critics and locals alike, and named among the nation's top 10 pieces of bad public art .. In 2012 the statue was moved from Chicago, IL to Palm Springs, California for 3 years, then moved to New Jersey for 2 years. In 2016, Marilyn made a trip to Australia for a year, the returned to the US where she was displayed in Connecticut. As of 2023, I hear Marilyn has returned to Palm Springs, CA, where it continues to be a popular destination and a great photo opportunity.
"I never wanted to be Marilyn--it just happened. Marilyn's like a veil I wear over Norma Jeane." - Marilyn Monroe.
Meet Sarah. A delightful model who dressed and played Marilyn Monroe on this given shoot. Well done Sarah 👏 🔥

While trying to install a ceiling fan, we discovered this old homemade Marilyn Monroe clock in the attic space.
Turns out the photos is from her last 1962 Bruce Sterling photo sessions for Vogue magazine.
Were it that this were a real picture, easily extricated from the prison of time, I might sell it for 1000s of dollars.
But what an unexpected discovery, regardless.
