A plethora of tones, textures and shapes - the Mammoth Springs site in Yellowstone Wyoming, USA.
It was formed by drying calcium deposits (carbonate) with wonderful crystal like glisten.
(Never saw any Wooly Mammoths . but Happy Mammoth Monday!)
Another piece for the lovely photo manipulation series. Really had to play a lot to get to this final result. On the beginning I was thinking to add an elephant instead of the mammoth since it has a wide relation to the circus and happiness. However, due to the same fact I decided to focus and explore more the mammoth since it was an animal with incredible skills. Also, the caveman's had a real relation with these sort of animal, which according to the years, was lost. So in this piece, I tried to demonstrate this relation between this incredible and fascinating animal with myself! I hope you all enjoy what you have seen...

Also, I would like to thank my friend, Nene, for helping me with the animal choice :)
I solved the problem of the dropped/lost polarizing filter - I just shot this with the 400mm prime. Mammoth Hot Springs area, Yellowstone NP.
I captured this image looking East across Crowley Lake to White Mountain Peak on the right and Mt. Dubois on the left just outside Mammoth CA.
Four knights encounter a terrible monster they thought belonged only to the past!
But the monstrous mammoth is not alone. The knights appear to have trod accidentally into an ancient ice kingdom almost frozen in time, a kingdom of the East, determined to protect itself from outsiders. Who will immerge from the encounter victorious? And whose bones will remain in the blizzard, to be lost forever to the snow, the wind, and the ice...
Hey guys, this is my entry to Brickscalibur's Monstrous Encounter category, which I collaborated a little with my sister on. Hope you like it :) .
The Mammoth pools were in the devastating Creek Fire in September of 2020. I was amazed at how scarred this entire area was from the fire, 45,500 acres burned. The good news is I did see new growth sprouting up out of the land. There are several campgrounds around this reservoir. The fire was so fast that many campers were not able to evacuate ending up waiting for help by going into the water to avoid the fire. 224 campers were rescued by helicopter and taken to safety.
Mammoth Lakes Basin, Cold Water Creek.
Emerald Lake is an easy 1.5-mile trail that starts out of the Coldwater Creek Campground and is an out-and-back type trail.
Winter is coming! October 1st overnight snow lingers at 10,000 feet near Mammoth Mountain. When you are on a mountain bike ride without your camera, you do the best you can with your iPhone.
Oh, the wonderous colors of the travertine (actually the micoorganisms that grow on the rocks in the varied temperatures of the hot springs). Makes for some spectacular photos against a deep blue sky. One wonders where the steam ends and the clouds begin. Looking close you can see the water pouring down. Oh yes, this is Mammoth Hot Springs, Yellowstone National Park.
One of the starker areas of the constantly changing landscape at Mammoth Hot Springs, Yellowstone National Park.
Hope you have a good weekend. Thanks for stopping by and for all of your kind comments, awards and faves -- I appreciate them all.
