In 70s Mattel Barbie fashions. Kelley is wearing Best Buy 3343 minus the flower belt. I'm not sure of the number for PJ's fashion but it is called Holiday Hostess from the Fashion Fun collection.
It's Malibu P.J. with Twist 'n Turn Waist. Bendable Legs. Poseable from Mattel! 1975. A very pretty Barbie! P.J. is in the Regent Miniatures 1:6 Scale Barn built by Ken Haseltine of www.regentminiatures.com.

Here is a girl I bought a little while ago. She is the superstar faced variation of Sun Lovin' Malibu PJ! She is being compared to the original version of PJ and Barbie too (Photos courtesy of Barbie Creations: www.flickr.com/photos/barbiecreations/)
She is PJ in every way, except for the face! Her face is slightly different from Sun Lovin' Malibu Barbie's too: Her eyebrows are darker, her makeup is deeper, and her eyes are outlined in black.
I much prefer Malibu PJ's swimsuit as Barbie's often looks washed out and doesn't suit the tan tone of these dolls IMO. I think PJ's hair is cuter too :P
found her in the trash of someone!! she is in pretty good shape 😍

THE SUNSET MALIBU PJ made in Taiwan
With some defects, but has a very nice face. Form a US lot with a Malibu Barbie and Malibu Francie and some clothes. Goggles still fixed but I had to reinforce on one side; goggles are ight blue instead of the classic lilac. Swimsuit from the some lot, but it has no tag inside like the one I found in the Malibu Barbie made in Taiwan.

I also have the Ken ... just need to keep looking out for the Skipper and Francie dolls to complete this collection
So here is the final version of the Smplicity outfits. I ended up making 3 sets (one for me and one for Ebay and Etsy)

Repro Malibu Barbie in a Best Buy from 1974 and Malibu PJ in Free Moving PJ's outfit. The gals are drinking Riesling and smoking Kools, but clearly PJ has no intention of listening to her friend's chatter since all she can focus on is the MAN who just entered the restaurant.
I actually made two additional pairs of pants because I'm still not 100% happy with them. AND the same pattern is used for the other outfits!
I'm not 100% on the first guy, but I think he's one of the princes from a Barbie moive
2nd guy is a fabulous clone

The doll on the right is wearing 1984 Barbie Fashion Fun #7909.
PERSONAL FUN FACT: P.J. has become one of my most favorite Barbie friends since I began collecting dolls again as an adult. I think that this is in part due to the fact that I've always had decent luck when it comes to finding P.J. dolls at the flea market. This lady on the left was one of the first P.J. dolls in my collection. I remember finding her during the summer of 2012, in a basket with my second California Midge, one of my Peaches 'n Cream dolls, and a few outfits. I'll admit, she is probably the homeliest of all my P.J. dolls. Typically, I find P.J. dollies to be absolutely gorgeous. But something about this doll's huge, purple bug eyes is not quite appealing. But she is undoubtedly a unique lady, and I really appreciate her for that. She's kind of a difficult gal to dress, since her huge purple eyes clash with most anything. I'm sure with the right outfit though, her eyes probably look amazing. Over the years, this doll has really grown on me, and she's one of the most recognizable P.J. dolls in my collection!
The girl on the right is SO much more attractive. That's why I didn't initially believe she was a duplicate. She was part of the 2024 "Storage Sweeties Lot." That fall, a seller at the local flea market told my sister and me about some dolls she had in a storage unit. She was downsizing her two storage units into just one, and needed to get rid of some stuff. We didn't see her for about a month, so I had sort of forgotten about the dollies. But on one of the last weekends of flea market season, she spotted us and called us over. There was a huge green container piled with various vintage doll cases and metal trunks. It was $80 for it all, which is way more than we'd usually pay. But a cursory glance revealed some preserved 60s and 70s dolls (with excellent face paint). This P.J. is the belle of the ball! She has such a delicate facial screening and she cleaned up beautifully.

PERSONAL FUN FACT: I think my favorite vintage friends of Barbie (from the 60s and 70s) would have to be P.J. and Francie. I have been quite fortunate to have good luck finding them, specifically P.J. This Sun Gold Malibu doll and my Dream Date P.J. were both from the same lot. How cool is that?!! It was a spring day in 2012, shortly after my dad passed away. My cousin and his now wife tagged along with me and my sister to the local flea market. I remember we found a few things that day, but the best treasure was saved for last. On the way out of the flea market, located close to the exit/entrance was a cardboard box. When I peeked inside, I saw a bunch of dressed 1980s Barbies. Quite a few of them had their original outfits, the rest were in 80s fashions. I was so excited, since the 1980s is my favorite decade of Barbie to collect. And there were some gems included in the lot. It cost just $10, which I thought was a bargain (I think that made each doll around $1 or less). To my dismay, I realized that the dolls' previous owner must have enjoyed blow drying them. They had the tell tale singed, frazzled hair, from where a blow dryer melted their tresses. It's something I recognize, since I was one of those kids who constantly washed and blow dried her dollies. All of the Barbies were salvageable, it just required a lot of trimming and boil washing to make their manes look decent. Unluckily, both P.J.s had it the worst. Nothing about their hair was fixable (Dream Date had a bad haircut, but less melting damage). So I had a choice: go through the painstaking process of re-rooting them, or use them as body donors. I just couldn't bare the thought of using either P.J. as a body donor. Plus, this Sun Gold Malibu gal has a loose body anyways...so it wouldn't have been optimal for use on another doll. So for a few months, I kept the dolls as they were, doing my best to work with what they had. I ended up with loads of extra hair from re-rooting one of my Bratz dolls. That's how this Sun Gold Malibu lady and Dream Date both ended up with the same hair color. It just so happened to work wonderfully with their faces/skin tones. I also think it's really sweet that they match my beloved Bratz "Black Friday" Meygan's re-root, since she was bought by my dad. That makes my two P.J.s even more special!

Score! As IL began slowly reopening (and I got used to mask-acne) I realized that my local Goodwill used this opportunity to purge & re-arrange the store. I hadn't seen ANY dolls in awhile and then on the first.....a treasure trove at not one, but two stores!
So this is my first haul from the "far-away" goodwill and every single doll was .99 cents.
I think I have some of them ID'd but if you recognize anyone; let me know. :-)

1. 1972 Malibu PJ, gift of Marika.
2. Because of the brown eyes, I think this is a 1988 Swimsuit Jazzie. She was given to me by a friend in a group of dolls. This is a dress my mother designed and made for Barbie in the 1960s.
3. This is Glitter Beach Jazzie from 1993. I found her in the box in a thrift store. She's wearing a dress I made.
4. The two redheads are Hip 2 Be Square Barbies from 2000. I got them nude in a doll lot I won on eBay. One is wearing a dress I made for my "Anna Wintour" doll as part of my Runway Monday final collection audience. The other is wearing a vintage swimsuit that belongs to Midge.
I remembered I had this Fashion Fever outfit still in the packaging, and thought it would look groovy on Malibu PJ.
Like TNT PJ, all of these dolls have one thing in common...they smell like mold/fungus. I'm not talking about a small whiff when you get close, I mean you walk into the room and immediately go "What's that smell?"
For the past 6 months I've been trying just about everything...vinegar baths (great for clothes, not dolls), charcoal, baking soda, even d-stinker (great on the hard plastic body--not the limbs so much).
So I went to the hardware store today and I've upped the ante...hopefully the new treatments will work because I can't handle the smell!!!!!
