We drove over to Asheville (NC) for the Skinny Puppy Final Tour (w/ Lead Into Gold). Here are my iPhone pics and videos from our adventure.

We arrive inside the venue and I spot Paul Barker setting up the Lead Into Gold Merch booth! After the initial shock of seeing an Industrial Rock legend, I quickly get in line to purchase the new Lead Into Gold album on vinyl. Because there are few people queued up to purchase items, Paul chats and even poses for pictures! So once I purchase the record, Paul personalizes the front cover with my name and his signature! (I must say.. Paul is very humble and super friendly, btw) Then we take our photo with my wife, Beth serving as our photographer. What a special experience; definitely the highlight of the evening!

Shown here is a Tiptop Audio Station252 Black Widow version filled with modules from various Eurorack manufacturers. Surachai from Trash Audio wrote a little piece on the case recently. His first paragraph says it all:

"For the past few weeks I’ve had this case with me – traveling to LA, playing shows, recording in studios and general show & tell – and I can say that it’s the best portable case I have ever used. The TipTop Audio Station 252 case (the 252 stands for a total of 252 HP) is light, compact, ergonomic and has the best power supply available. The folding is simple, quick and, for some reason, always attracts admirers. It was easily the most enjoyable traveling and performing experience with this case!"

This is Josh Holley's Eurorack set-up. Josh is part of Malekko, bringing us nice effects pedals and creative modules. Most importantly for us, he is the one responsible for Wiard's designs being available in Eurorack. Shown are many modules from various manufacturers mounted in cases built by Matthew Goike.

Energy projected and originating not from nature, but from technology.

Beautiful photo of a nearly full Monorocket Lexington by Monsturo. Nice selection of modules from a variety of manufacturers. Lots of oscillators, multiple filters and several sequencers for control. The Harvestman Stilton Adaptor is used for integrating external effects. LINK: www.myspace.com/monsturo .

Here is a photo of Chris Halcrow's modular rig. Very egonomical, its made up a Doepfer Monster Base, two Doepfer A-100P9 cases, tons of modules and some tasty Make Noise tabletop skiff action!

Here is a photo of Johnny Wood's Euro Video System mounted in a Gorillabox 104 HP 12u Dual Briefcase with four Tiptop Zeus powered bus boards!

The Gorillabox cases are perfect for travel and live use. Strong and durable yet still lightweight, they can hold quite a bit of modules in an attractive fold together case. The two parts can be separated and placed side by side or the case can be positioned in a flip up configuration, as shown. Finally almost finished (rack rails on the right one are still missing). A huge thank you goes to IKEA for their RAST. I used 4 in all for 30 HU of eurorack. The middle part has been enlarged with a 5mm thick wood part.

Coming soon from Malekko, the next in their line of compact utility modules, is the 4 HP VCA. The VCA is a simple but good sounding dual VCA at an affordable price. Each half has an audio input and output, a CV input with atttenuator and a pushbutton for switching between linear and exponential modes. This module should be shipping within the next couple of weeks.

This is a photo of the back of a bunch of Malekko Anti-Oscillators. The Malekko/Wiard collaboration continues- they're now bringing out modules that never existed in any format. The Anti-Oscillator is a unique oscillator that can be played traditionally via the 1v/oct input but the Mayhem output might lead you to use it otherwise. The Anti-Oscillator ships from stock. LINK: www.analoguehaven.com/malekko/antioscillator/ .

Photo of the upcoming Envelator by Malekko. This is the fifth and next Eurorack module to come from the intriguing collaboration between Malekko and modular company Wiard. The Envelator can be considered a very flexible envelope/modulator (i.e. multi-function generator).

From Grant Richter of Wiard: "We added a monostable in the "Cyc" feedback loop. Now you can make rolls, strums, echos and bounces with a single section. To get full audio range (500Hz) the delay only kicks in when the knob is pulled out. Delay time is from 4 milliseconds to 10 seconds, exponential curve. "Ext" is an external CV for the delay time, no room for attn. knob.

The normal range of the attack and decay segments is 1 millisecond to 40 seconds. The X10 knob extends the max time for both attack and decay into Gary Chang territory. I have no idea what to do with a 800 second envelope. But I am told they are cool.

The two pull switches are set up up on a composer level to allow ABCD changes on the fly."

We expect to have stock around the end of January.

Price: TBD.

my Maths arrived yesterday, filling in the last big hole of my modular synth system. So I took pictures.

This is a photo of Cevin Key's Eurorack set-up, named Synthosaurus, along with some modular DIY and Serge gear. Cevin Key is probably best known for being part of Skinny Puppy, amongst other music projects. He is also the owner of Subconscious Communications. Cevin's Eurorack system contains modules from many manufacturers, and like all good modulars it is still growing. LINK: www.subconsciousrecords.com/ .

Shown here is Malekko's Eurorack version of the Wiard NoiseRing. The module is now in production and we expect delivery on or before August 13th. We're now accepting pre-orders via our website. LINK: www.analoguehaven.com/malekko/noisering/ .

Effects Pedals modify the sound of a musical instrument such as an Electric Guitar by means of changes like distortion, modulation, and feedback. They are often found on the floor on a pedalboard, and are operated with the feet.

The photo includes (left to right) Ekko 616 Analogue Delay (Malekko), SL Drive (Xotic USA), EP Booster (Xotic USA), SP Compressor (Xotic USA), and Poly tune (TC electronic).

The next two Wiard modules being put out by Malekko are the Anti-Oscillator and the Noisering. These two should be available around the end of July. The Noisering is the same as the Wiard 1200 series but with the addition of a toggle switch that will make the jack above it a clock input or clock output. The Anti-Oscillator is a new analog oscillator from Grant Richter with some very interesting waveshaping capabilities. Congrats to Malekko for getting the Wiard stuff out in Eurorack so efficiently! Here's a photo of the prototype Malekko Borg and Boogie filters mounted in a Eurorack case. The cosmetic design of each module pays tribute to the Wiard originals and the circuits are 1:1 copies of Wiard's schematics. Made with permission from and help by Grant Richter of Wiard. The filters should be available in just over a month. We will take pre-orders as the release date draws nearer. LINK: www.analoguehaven.com/malekko/ .

With a big assist from Jim, we got Lava Cable cut and ready to go. So this is the "final" configuration for my pedalboard. Final, at least, until I get something else to put on here. The Buddha Machine in the top right is velcro'ed on for easy access and isn't part of the signal chain (yet, anyway).

Order of operations:

1. Boss SD-1 Super OverDrive

2. Wampler Cranked AC

3. Banzai New Rising Sun

4. Electro-Harmonix Stereo Pulsar

5. Malekko ECHO 600 Dark

6. HardWire DL-8

7. Ernie Ball VP (which, depending on the setting, goes to the amp or to the Boss TU-2 Chromatic Tuner)

(A Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 Plus sits below the riser to power the whole thing.)
