When we were just entering the City of Bickleton, we had to stop for two male California Quail that were crossing the road. One decided to stop at the edge of the road and pose for a few photographs. He didn't seem to mind our cameras nor the vehicles driving by. I love their head plumes which make them so darn adorable and unique.

After not being able to access Yahoo (and my email) at all and having limited and intermittent access to Flickr which are on Firefox, while having perfect access to other things through Explorer, I never thought to refresh my modem. But being the electronic idiot I am and ready to throw the computer off the deck, I thought I'd try it just for grins. Well, guess what. As the Moody Blues once said, "Another day's useless energy spent." I hate this stuff.

HMM. Ok, I suspect mail hasn't been delivered to this mostly abandoned farmstead for some time. Spotted on a recent road trip we took just to get away.
Antisana

When I first got married it was so exciting to go the mailbox to get my mail. In fact, I would enter contests, send for coupons, order magazines anything just to fill my mailbox. Nowadays other than junk mail, my mailbox doesn't thrill me like it once did. Most of my bills are sent electronically and there is hardly any correspondence sent through the mail. Trying to be more environmentally aware last year I opted to skip mailed holiday greetings. I do miss the days of picking out special stationery and hand- writing letters to family and friends.
Everything in our society feels so urgent, we don't seem to want to wait for anything anymore. Do you remember mailing away your film and how exciting it was to get your photos back in the mail? I wouldn't want to go back to that but I think we need to learn about waiting and being excited again. Anticipating something is almost better than getting it.

I posted an image about a year ago like this. When I'm at Lake Senachwine I always shoot these old mailboxes. Behind me is the abandoned house with and abandoned car in the driveway.

Stonechats are robin sized birds. Males have striking black heads with white around the side of their neck, orange-red breasts and a mottled brown back. Females lack the male's black head, but have brown backs and an orange tinge to their chests. Birds are frequently seen flicking their wings while perched, often doing so on the tops of low bushes. As its name suggests, birds utter a sharp loud call that sound like two stones being tapped together. They breed in western and southern parts of the UK, but disperse more widely in winter. My goal with this series is to explore every day scenes under the cover of darkness. A street corner, a lamp post, a doorway. Big city, small town, urban, rural. Man-made light versus nature’s darkness–––light and shadow interpreting minimalist settings in black and white. To see more in this series, check out Cover Of Darkness.
Jump aboard the miniature Mail Rail train and travel through the tunnels underneath London's Mount Pleasant sorting office. The track stretches all the way from Paddington to Whitechapel.
During the First World War, the Mail Rail tunnels were used to store art treasures belonging to the Tate, British Museum and National Portrait Gallery to protect them from German attacks.
