Women in the world are often told that they need to look a certain way and smile as much as possible to look pretty but I believe the true masterpiece is the woman within and her depth of emotions and thoughts is worth celebrating.

Commissioned by the Historic Royal Palaces and designed by the landscape architects at Robert Myers Associates, the Magic Garden is a new garden at Hampton Court Palace. Located in Henry VIII’s former tiltyard, the Magic Garden brings to life the history, culture and also the mythical legacies of the Hampton Court Palace.

Villa Rufolo - Ravello - Amalfi Coast

.

"Die Klingsor Zaubergarten is gefunden!" Richard Wagner, in vacanza a Ravello nel 1880, di fronte ai giardini di Villa Rufolo, disse “il magico Giardino di Klingsor è trovato!”, decidendo di ambientare proprio qui il secondo atto del “Parsifal”.

[ It was in May 1880 that #Wagner visited Ravello and discovered the enchanted garden of #Klingsor as he had imagined it for his opera #Parsifal.]

Philadelphia's Magic Gardens a non-profit organization, folk art environment, and gallery space, in the South Street District of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

To date, it is the largest work created by mosaic artist Isaiah Zagar. Spanning spans three city lots and includes indoor galleries and a large outdoor labyrinth. The mosaics are made up of everything from kitchen tiles to bike wheels, Latin-American art to china plates.

Isaiah and his wife Julia moved to South Street in 1968, when the area was being slated for demolition by the city to create the Crosstown Expressway. Due to this proposed construction, the area was desolate and dangerous.

The Zagars were one of the first people to come to this area and begin to turn its image around. They opened the Eyes Gallery on 402 South Street, which was the first property that Isaiah would mosaic. Here they still showcase and sell the art of Latin-American artists.

After the Eyes Gallery, the Zagars went on to purchase and rent out several other buildings, and Isaiah would go on to create several other mosaicked spaces and public murals. He bought the building that currently houses Philadelphia's Magic Gardens in 1994. He fenced off the two vacant lots next door to keep out garbage and vermin, and over the next fourteen years began creating the Magic Gardens.

In 2002 the landowner of the two vacant lots wanted to sell the land due to rising property values on South Street. Together with members of the community, Isaiah was able to purchase the lots. With this purchase "Philadelphia's Magic Gardens" was born, and in 2008 it opened to the public, dedicated to inspiring creativity and community engagement.

The magic garden is a glorious, astonishing haven created by Philadelphia artist/artisan Isaiah Zagar, over several decades. It is the most incredible thing to envelop yourself in. Please go to Philly, and see it. Please, oh please. My images don't do it justice. More fully blogged here.

This is my final shot from the time in Melbourne. All three of these photos today exhibit something that is at once quirky, likeable, but also disturbing. Something is far from right here, although I do find this section of the garden quite magical. Those pink flamingos and the garden gnome add colour to the only restful place in this entire property - the hammock. It's not everyone's cup of tea as they say, but this is my favourite shot from Melbourne, and probably the closest I'll ever come to taking a shot like William Eggleston.

Bright and sparkly with a sprinkling of magic and a pinch of fairy dust, this themed garden is a whimsy of childhood cherished in memory. The piece took three day to create, using 1,232 elements. Completed in October 2020.

This is a studio shot, done to emphasize the delicacy of the plant.

I was able to look closely into this Magical Garden and saw these two cute birds on the feeder. They just looked so adorable. There was room for more than one bird but the tiny one seemed to want to use the same area of the feeder. He may have been a very young one.
